Son has a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 4X4 Truck acts like it wants to die until he steps on the gas and then the problem goes away. The exhaust has a gassy smell. Parts guys are telling him it is the fuel pressure regulator. Problem--where is the fuel pressure regulator on this model truck? He has been told it is in the engine compartment, it is in the gas tank and also that this vehicle doesn't even have a fuel pressure regulator. Guys at NAPA say there has to be one as they sell the part. Any clues? Chevy dealerships say it would cost $500 to fix (part is about $65?).

I have a 2004 chevy cav. and when put gas in it it shoots gas back out at you. and how do you fix it

breather tube in gas tank filler tube is blocked or kinked , you need to see if upper line is clear. Had same problem with my son's truck.

I hace a 2003 lincoln ls v8 3.9l. I was driving

Try taking the exhaust pipe loose at the manifold. I had a Chevy Suburban that acted the same way, it turned out to plugged catyletic converter. The converter wasn't letting the exhaust out, the truck had no power, it would stall and then start right up and great for about five seconds the run rough and quit. Once I disconnected the exhaust it started right up and ran great. You could also try taking the O2 sensors out (for test purposes) ahead of the converter that will give the exhaust a place to go

1989 Chevy Truck , Stock Radio , Whining noise thru the speakers seems to increase with enginge speed. Radio Grounded ? or ?

Sounds like you have a capacitor problem. It could be a number of issues , but i suggest you check the alternator one first.

If you unplug the power cable to the back of the alternator and the whining goes away then replace the capacitor(usually only one bolt/screw)and you should be OK.

If not I sometimes have dissconnected the + wire from the HT coil when the car is running and the same applies, and if this works replace the capacitor or fit one if there isn't.

If none of this helps fit one to the + wires of your radio.

Please leave fair comment if I have helped you.

Thank you

Acting like it is out of gas

Sounds like a bad fuel pump, that's exactly how they act when they die.

It's usualy inside the gas tank so it's a dealership type of repair, you got to pull the tank, and sinc you filled it, it's eithe got to be drained, or use a transmission lift to get it out, NOT a home job unless you've done it before and own a hydraulic lift
