Hello Bradley Johnston,
Beyond the very obvious FIRE (spark) & Fuel
(proper pressure & volume)... there are a COUPLE
of not-so-obvious issues that will allow you engine to
pop & grumble... but not run.
Bad timing chain... Reasonably easily checked
with a timing light ... A rather unlikely cause ..
ELSE
you are likely looking at a BLOCKED EXHAUST.
(See "Walker data" below)
http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=130280&cc=1095689&jsn=510
I am going to suggest you try to get your "codes" read...
For FREE... ("Towed home" is not a good indicator that
is actually possible... but choosing to pursue a
catalytic convertor or muffler on your own is not
If you can get that DODGE moving AGAIN...
(sadly if your FREE reading is at AUTOZONE...
(I feel they will sell you OXYGEN SENSORS you
most likely do-not-need))...
MORE likely...
you are STOPPED COLD... and your faithful RAM
is acting like it is suffocating.. and cannot breath..
'cuz it cannot...
I am guessing your EXHAUST IS BLOCKED...
It is HARMFUL to heat up your valves and leave
them exposed to cold air...
If your are MECHANICALLY adept... you can
OPEN YOUR EXHAUST above your catalytic
convertors and dis-prove my theory...
... but you CANNOT allow your engine to run
that way (both dangerous 2 U & harmful to engine).

I had the same issue and it turned out to be grounding issues. by that I mean ALL of my grounds were rusted/loose/ too small wire/ ect.
To curb this issue i had to locate multiple grounding wires on the engine and that little wire running from the ground terminal to the front cross member was heating up because so much current draw through it- after locating grounding wires, Sanding the connections and using petroleum jelly AND replacing the ground terminal and Positive terminal the issue cleared up.
The only reason i knew it was ground issues on my car was finding that one chassis ground wire heating up from just running my car.
