I thought I read somewhere that the timing CHAIN needed to be replaced at 115,000 miles. It is a double chain ( there are two, hence the $200 price of the kit). However, I contacted a local GOOD shop for price (too old to muck with this stuff anymore; my back and knees are SHOT and full of metal )..I was told "you don't need to change a chain; they don't break"....WTF??? I don't believe that for a minute..chains break...eventually they stretch, skip a tooth and break..or something similar. Does ANY body think that chains DO NOT break?

Please check with the dealer. I believe that motor has a chain... not a belt.

What would cause my 2002 suzuki esteem to just die

Jamie, Is or was engine light on, are there any codes, was there any recent work done? The more info. the easier to help diagnose.
Removing the oil fill cap and have a helper crank the engine, while you look for cam movement,if you have cam movement that's good.
Next squirt some starter fluid in throttle body and try starting, try a couple times. If starts and revs fine while running on starter fluid, problem is a faulty fuel pump filter, fuse, relay or pump.
If it spits sputters or backfire while trying to start, timing belt has slipped probably and needs replaced.

How do i reset a timing belt on a 98 suzuki esteem

I just came across this site. It shows you how to remove a timing belt, as well a realign it. It says it's for a Suzuki Sidekick, but notice the Esteem in brackets. Hope this helps.

The Transmission Speed Sensor, output, for an automatic 1998 Suzuki Esteem, Station Wagon, is broken. Where can i find de sensor to replace it?

Go to oemsuzukiparts.com--they have all the parts you need, including the speed sensor, for a good price--I have used them quite a bit recently for my 2006 Forenza wagon.

Is valve adjustment a part of normal maitenance on Suzuki Esteem

When you hear some tapping, that's why you need -valve adjustments. At 137,000miles you probably need more than that to continue your trouble-free drives.
