2013
n May 2013 there was a recall of WKs with the Quadra-Drive II and Quadra-Trac II systems.
This followed cases of cars rolling away due to the transfer case moving into neutral of its own accord, and the owner not having applied the parking brake. The recall revised the Final Drive Control Module (FDCM) software. However, following the recall, there were widespread reports on enthusiast websites but most users never have occasion to use the low ratio and may never discover the fault. Four years after this recall its issues remain unresolved.
. The company is aware of 41 injuries that are potentially related. It was also the cause of actor Anton Yelchin's Deathh. (a very sad story that)

Quadra-Drive II Quadra-Drive II uses the New Venture Gear NV245 transfer case mated to front and rear axles containing electronic limited slip differentials or ELSDs. Jeep added traction control in 2005 and starting in 2011 only a rear ELSD is offered, while the front has an open differential.

ELSD module is located under the rear drivers seat. If you remove the bolts for the seat legs you can lift the rear cushion up and flip the carpet forward. It will be right there with three plugs.

1999 jeep grand cherikee 4 wheel drive not working

You need to be more specific. To start, which 4 wheel drive system your jeep has? (Select Trac, Quadra Trac II or Quadra Drive)
Then: does it never work, or only in 4-Lo?

I have a 1997 jeep grand cherokee. it has quadra trac. i want to put a selecta trac transfer case is in. is it just a matter or changing transfer cases?

Possibly, but there may be a difference in the spline count on the coupler you'd need to deal with. There is a lot of info on swaps at jeepforums.com that may be helpful to you in that regard.

Quadra Trac II 4 wheel drive problem

Oil is added to transfer case through a plug usually located about half way up the back of the case.
When making a diagnosis, a good tech relies upon previous experience matching that to known symptoms, then upon teardown to verify his ideas. A good working knowledge is essential so the tech can picture in his mind what is happening inside the unit.(i once knew an old tech who could sit in the shop office and make a correct diagnosis as another tech drove a vehicle into the shop) That's rare, but there are good people out there! Your coupler may have to be removed, but that largely depends upon what the shop sees and feels.
Good luck

4 wheel drive not working

sounds to me like the transfer case clutches are worn out. also the fluid could be low or dirty. try draining and refilling the transfercase with clean fluid. if it is still not working after driving it around for a few miles then you may need to replace or overhaul your transfercase
