Hello. I am writing to get some help diagnosing the 4WD hi not working on my 96 Suburban. It is electronic 4WD, and when I push the 4WD button, both 4WD Hi and 4WD Lo flash for about 5 seconds, then go off. The vehicle stays in 2WD. 4WD lo works, but seems to **** when accelerating from a stop, almost like the transmission is slipping. I have not checked the fluids yet, and I am wondering if low fluid could cause the 4WD Hi to not work. Any help is greatly appreciated!
We had this same problem, under the car there is a modular, near the transfer case, it just unlugs and plug a new one in.20 min.. it is approx. $80.00 item,$ 350.00 to have it done. we were in yellowstone when we had this problem. hope this helps
My 4wd was having issue going in and out of 4wd and sometimes it would get stuck in 4wd low and enter 4wd low on its own. I fixed this by changing the front differential fluid. I believe it was low and being low didn't allow the 4wd actuator to function properly.
