Driving down the road tonight and the headlights and dashboard lights just went off. I turned the light switch off then on again and the lights would come back on, then out again in about 5-10 seconds. I did hear a clicking noice in dash when the lights come on/go off. This is only when the vehicle is in motion. When I adjusted the dimmer switch to turn on the interior cab light, the headlights/dash light stayed on except for one time. I just bought this truck about 2 weeks ago and do not know alot about its history. The truck has 100K and the engine is stroing. Any ideas on the headlight problem?
SOURCE: headlights keep switching from drive lights to headlights
check the headlight switch for burned contacts or a heat dis-colored connector to it. If u find either replace the headlight switch and the connector as a pair.

headlights rlun on high beams at all times dimmer switch is designed to interupt the circuit so id say your problem would have to be at the dimmer switch check the plug and linkage

You have a short to ground somewhere in the drl-fog lamp circuit. Check for obvious wiring connector or wiring to drl & fog lamps. check wiring for pinched or broken wires coming from sockets. If you don't find problem, you can trace wiring from lamps to main harnesses and hopefully find source of short.
hope this helps.
