Hello I have a Volvo that intermittently shuts off, I do not mean engine stalling! I mean electrical shut down. While driving I hear relays click and within seconds my dash shuts down and everything in car shuts off like the battery was dissconnected. When I try to start car nothing no electrical power at all. If I dissconnect the battery and hook it back up, car starts back up and is fine again. I installed a dead mans switch inline on the ground so that when this happens I can immediately cycle the switch and restart car. I previously had some other gremlins including battery discharge over a few days. This was corrected by changing the alarm siren. The sunroof still works intermittently which did not work at all until siren change. My cruise is also intermittent. I have removed all fuse boxes and inspected for any corrossion as I am thinking this is a ground issue, or possibly power. I am little stuck because the car is not throwing any codes. One other issue I have my dash information center show distance to empty and whatever messages but doesnt show any functions like gas mileage any more? if anybody has any ideas that would be great.

Your CCM (Climate Control Module) is dead, or asleep. Look in the fuse box at the left end of the dashboard and pull the fuse and see if it resets the CCM. The module may need to be reprogrammed or replaced.
My suggestion is that you take this to a Volvo mechanic, one who has experience with working on these 1999- Volvo models. They have a networked computer system that requires special tools to diagnose and download software into the modules.
Also, it is a good idea to have them perform a total software upgrade, it will address many issues, and may prevent other issues from occurring.

Have tried getting quality gasoline at a reliable station? It sounds like water in your fuel system. Add a couple bottles of Iso-Heet fuel system dryer everytime you fill up the next few times, and that should cure it.

It could be a number of things. Fuel Flow problem, or electrical apparatus heats up and works inefficiently. You could start from the cheaper, less strainous solutions, in this order: Change Fuel Filter, and clean Nozzles. Fuel Pump, Air Mass Meter.

you need to replace the Park Neutral Safety Sensor on the bottom of the Transmission. Should only be a $125.00 part. Your battery and starter are fine. Replace it and iy will be fixed.
