Windshield Wipers won't spray 2004 Rav4

For the past 2 years, when temps fall below 38˚ my front wipers won't spray on my 2004 Rav4. The back one sprays fine, no matter how cold it is out. The dealer can't figure out the problem. I bought a new motor, which I've yet to have installed because they told me both wipers work off the same motor. I use top notch wiper fluid (and if it was freezing, then why would the back sprayer work?), and the line has been checked more than once...so I am at a loss for what could be going on. Can you help?
Thanks!

First off, thank you for such a speedy reponse! Second, and most importantly...thank you for helping me resolve my issue! I printed off your response and gave it to the dealership along with the new pump. An hour later, I left with working wipers! I believe it was your specific suggestions that finally gave the mechanics something to consider instead of just giving me the "can't figure it out" and "it's the same pump" excuses I got before. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I think the dealer is mistaken, the is a washer jar for the front and one for the rear. be sure fluid is pure, and undiluted. clean out front washer jar, if it has been contaminated with any wrong fluid it will never flush it self out. Second point is front washer pump may have minor seal concern that is only apparent when cold. if first step does not cure, I would recommend repalcing pump. Keep me posted

In my 2007 Saturn Vue there is what I think is an air pump which is cracked that one port is not connected to anything.

There is a electric motor that pumps washer fluid . Located in the bottom of the washer fluid tank .
Wash Operation (Front and Rear Wipers)
The front and rear washer systems use the same windshield washer fluid pump. When either the front or rear wiper is in the washer position voltage will be supplied to one side of the windshield washer fluid pump (depending on whether it is front or rear), while the other side of the pump is grounded.
At this point, the windshield washer fluid pump sprays solvent onto the windshield. When the front or rear washer is activated, the BCM receives an input from the switch that is activated. The BCM will control the wipers while in the WASH mode. The BCM will control either the front wiper relay or the rear wiper relay to turn on the wipers. The windshield wipers operate at low speed for 3 swipes and returns to the park position.

When turning on the washers do you hear the motor run ? Have some one try it while you listen at the washer fluid tank ! These pump motors do go bad .
turn OFF the ignition.
Disconnect the harness electrical connector of the windshield washer fluid pump.
Connect a test lamp from the windshield washer pump control circuit to a good ground .
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Press the front washer switch.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
YES or NO !

Windshield wipers won't work after removing battery to get to the windshield wiper pump that squirts fluid to clean windshield

Sometimes disconnecting the battery does more damage then you want it might have trip a fuse or relay check those if thats not it, maybe wiper motor or transmission went out.

Windshield wipers do not work. Car sat one day. Worked fine previously. 2004 Nissan Maxima. Had about 3" snow. No ice on car. Temp around 32 or 33 degrees. Brushed snow from car. Came off...

when you turn the wipers on do you hear any sound? If so, then you may have disconnected a ball joint in there behind the firewall - typically the top (black) panel (under the wipers/ at the back of the hood) comes off or you could find other access to inspect more thoroughly to be sure. If no sound, test the power to the wiper motor with a test light, if no power, check fuses, wiring, ground, etc.,
Best regards

98 Chevy Venture front windshield wipers

I found problem to be that corrosion sets in between the CAMS plates that circle in an opposing fashion and does not let the wiper arms park correctly. Be very careful with this mechanism if you have the cowling off TURN the KEY and WIPERS OFF and watch your fingers so you don't get them caught.
WARNING if you leave the power on and try to move the arms This cam mechanism springs to life and will try to self park the wipers on their own so Turn the Power and Wipers Off.
SOLUTION: 1. With the ENGINE COLD, Spray a lubricant that FREE'S CORRODED PARTS like WD-40 between the gap of the 2 CAM Plates and on Top of the plates, or use some other automotive parts lubricant that free's corroded parts(let it soak for 5 minutes). 2. Gently Try to manually move the arms back and forth a little bit so that the spray works into the parts. 3. This may not be necessary but I had to do this the first time. There is a notch in the top cam that has a STUD that locks the 2 CAMs together. You can push on this STUD to unlock the cams by manually moving the wipers(use a screw driver to push on the STUD and have a friend gently move the wipers manually. Spray the area LIBERALLY with with the Lubricant Spray and see if you can move the CAMS back and forth and work the lubricant in.
Then with the wiper cover out of the way and all tools clear Try to cycle the wipers HIGH and LOW, ON and OFF a few times it may stick the first couple times with the wipers in the up position but I am confident that the lubricant will work its way in and free these CAMS the way they are supposed to. Your wipers should self park after cycling them after 5-10times. This should solve most of the problems with these wipers and should be relubricated as needed. Clean up any extra lubricant Put the wiper cover back on.
