this may have a starter relay that would power the fuel pump after started also this will be a fused system check your fuses are their any codes sometimes cars are equipped with a fail safe system that will disrupt the running if their is a fluid issue like low oil or coolant or even bad oil pressure
go tt www.volvocars.com select your region (ie United States). Go to sales&service and click on volvo owners info. you will have to register but all that is required is an email address. Put in your information about year and model car, you can click owners information and should be able to download a free copy of your owners manual. I had to do the same thing for my s60. This has to do with the anti-lock brake system. It will be fine without it, but if you want it fixed get it done at a dealer not a shop. It will cost a lot more but the repairs will be done right and will last longer.
