I have the same issue only the driver side blows the A/C while the passenger keeps warm. Once the dash is apart and you get to the heater box, how do you fix it? Replace the entire box?I have the same issue only the driver side blows the A/C while the passenger keeps warm. Once the dash is apart and you get to the heater box, how do you fix it? I have the same problem where it blows nothing but cold air on the drivers side but passenger side works just fine. I was wondering if you have the dual climate control on your GC Limited as well. Just had same problem with 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee- cold air blowing from passenger side of heater (dual control system) and also some cold air leaking through. Problem diagnosed at dealer as broken mixer door within heater box. Repaired last week of Dec 2008 for $800 parts and labor. THEN heater blower stopped working last week. Dealer diagnosed as blower motor destroyed "for pulling to much resistence and melted the wire". Resistor and blower motor had to be replaced (another $600). Dealter stated it's design flaw problem they see frequently. I spoke with Chrystler, and they refuse to acknowledge it's a problem or help with repair. When does issue become big enough for recall (maybe after few fires when the wires melt). Their response lost this customer for future vehicle purchases. The dual blend door module is broken at the hinge. There is a revised part available at the dealer. You'll need to remove and open the ac/heater housing to replace it. To remove the housing, you'll need to lower the steering column and remove the instrument panel assembly. It's not an easy job but it can be done in your driveway if you have plenty of time and patience. I hope this helps.
My 1999 limited does this. When i bought it off the guy he said that its because of some flap down by the passengers left foot. In mine the passenger air barely even blows because of this.
there should be a small valve attached to a hose coming from the engine into the firewall this valve directs the hot engine coolant into the heater radiator in the heater box it probably is closed open it and, you should have heat then: it should be easy to find the reason it was closed
You have 2 posibilities.there are 2 motors on the heater box that run the blend doors for each side. That side motor may be bad or worst case the blend door arm that connects to the motor is broken. If it is broken the whole dash has to be removed so the heater box can be taken out to replace the blend doors.Big job,do a heater core while your there if you fix it so you dont have to do it again.
try flushing out the heater radiator core.remove the two pipes and put a hose on the conections and keep reverseing flow.dont forget to top up with pure antifreeze,
The blend door on the passenger side has broken. Jeep has made a replacement section for the heater box assembly so you don't have to buy the whole thing. You will need to remove the heater/A/C box to replace the part. I have done quite a few of these repairs to fix the problem
same thing on my 2001 grand cherokee i also have a draft coming into the glove box which increases with speed any ideas ?
