If the anti-theft light is flashing, turn the key to the On position and leave it there until the light stops flashing. Turn the key off, then try to start the car. The Anti-Theft system can get tripped for no reason and cause this exact problem.

possibly a clogged fuel filter or water in the gas for your starting problem.a far as your tranny if its an auto you may need fluid,if manual or five speed your clutch is slipping and may be worn out.also if its auto your oil filter in your transmission may need servicing

SOURCE: Strong smell of gas on cold startup

I have a 2002 Impala, and on cold days on the first start of the day had strong fuel smell. I troubleshot the problem to the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail was leaking around the seams. I replaced the regulator and have had no problems since. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: car ran out of gas,

I know with some cars, you need to put in at least 5 gallons of gas after running out in order to reset the sensor so it starts sending the gas

2004 Yukon got to where gas pedal had to be on floor to start in cold weather. this morning was very cold and it will crank but wont start at all, fuel pump is good.

Sounds like you cold start injector may have gone bad. Pushing a gas pedal to the floor usually stops a fuel injected vehicle from allowing fuel into the cylinders, try pushing the pedal about half the way instead of to the floor and have the cold start injector checked or changed.

2003 SDi Volkswagen Polo, hard to start in mornings. Changed air filter, glo plugs, fuel filter and no change. I read the code with the OBD scan tool and I got code PO113 IAT sensor 1 Circuit High inp

Have that sensor checked or replaced. If the computer gets the wrong input signal from the intake air temperature sensor, it may not realize the engine is cold and not delivering enough gas at start-up.

My car did not start in the morning. It was cold about 17 degrees F. So I left it all day then got home about 9:30 and still no start. Strong cranking power. But I can not get any fuel to kick in it...

is your vehicle carbureted? if so your choke is not working properly. i do not advise using starting fluid. take a small amount of gas (about two tablespoons full) and put in the neck of your carburetor. this is the opening directly under the air cleaner. if your vehiicle kicks but does not start you may need to replace your fuel pump or fuel filter

Heeeelp! turns over but wont start. changed gas filter, cap, rotor.

Are you sure it is getting spark to the plugs? Did you check fuel pressure? It still may be getting some fuel but not enough. Is it fuel injected or car berated?

10-12 volts, that is low, have the battery load tested at a local parts store like Autozone, it's free.
