Hi - looking for instructions/diagrams that would assist me in removal of door trim to check/replace the electric window mechanism of driver's door of our Subaru Forester 1998 Limited.
I installed speakers in my door panels.
Pop up the window controlls unplug switches,
remove plastic screw hiders to expose phillips screws
remove screw from door latch lever
pull out on door panel, then lift up

Hi Roberta, here's the instructions on how to remove your door panel. I have to wonder though on why you are removing it, my guess is you window doesn't roll up or down and your replacing the regulator. Any way here goes.
REMOVAL
Remove the plug and remove screw attaching door pull cup to inner door panel.
Remove switch bezel and disconnect power window/memory switch.
Remove screws attaching trim panel to door from below map pocket.

Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.
Remove the window switch plate.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
CAUTION: Use care not to damage the trim panel covers. Open the screw covers.

Trim Panel —Front Door, Expedition
Removal
NOTE: Release the top portion first. Remove the sail panel.
Remove the window regulator switch plate (14524).
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Remove the upper door trim panel screw.
Remove the door trim panel screw at the window regulator switch plate opening.
Remove the door trim panel screw in the courtesy lamp housing.
Remove the courtesy lamp lens.
Remove the screw.
Remove the inside door handle trim cover.
Remove the inside door handle.
Remove the bolt.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the front door trim panel, do not pull directly outward. Lift upward and then outward to remove the front door trim panel (23943).
Remove the courtesy lamp and socket.
Disconnect the power mirror electrical connector.
Installation
Connect the power mirror electrical connector.
Install the courtesy lamp and socket.
Install the front door trim panel.
Install the inside door handle.
Install the bolt.
Install the inside door handle trim cover.
Install the door trim panel screw in the courtesy lamp housing.
Install the screw.
Install the courtesy lamp lens.
Install the door trim panel screw at the window regulator switch plate opening.
Install the upper door trim panel screw.
Connect the electrical connectors.
NOTE: If a new trim panel is required: Some new trim panels have a cut out opening for the window switchplate that is larger than that on the original trim panel. When installing a new trim panel, install the window switchplate in the following sequence to make sure that the switchplate is secured fully into the door trim panel. Install the window regulator switchplate.
Insert the rear switchplate clip into the trim panel opening.
Install the forward and side clips into the trim panel opening.
NOTE: Install the lower portion first. Install the sail panel.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Trim Panel(s), Door
Front Removal
Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) if equipped with power locks or power windows.
CAUTION: Use care when removing the front door inside handle escutcheon (22620). Failure to do so can result in damage to the component.
Carefully pry off the front door inside handle escutcheon by inserting a standard 1/4 inch screwdriver between the top rear portion of the front door inside handle escutcheon and the front door trim panel (23942) .
If equipped with manual windows, slip a clean shop rag between the window regulator handle (23342) and the front door trim panel .
Pull the shop rag back and forth to release the window regulator handle clip.
Remove the three cover caps and front door trim panel screws.
Remove the one front door trim panel capped screws from the door pull handle.
If equipped with power windows, remove the door pull handle. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Slide a flat-bladed tool behind each of the retainers and twist the tool to disengage the front door trim panel from the front door (20124) .
Remove the front door trim panel.
Installation
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Front Door Removal
Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) .
Remove the front door window glass (21410) . Refer to the front door window glass removal procedure in this section.
Remove the two front door brace bolts and the front door brace.
Disconnect the front window regulator electric drive electrical connector.
Remove the four front door window glass regulator track bolts.
Remove the three front window regulator electric drive bolts.
Remove the front door window glass regulator track and the front window regulator electric drive (23394) as an assembly through the opening in the front door (20124) .
Installation
Install the front door window glass regulator track and the front window regulator electric drive as an assembly through the opening in the front door .
Install the three front window regulator electric drive bolts. Tighten the front window regulator electric drive bolts securely.
Install the four front door window glass regulator track bolts. Tighten the front door window glass regulator track bolts securely.

Removal WARNING: IF THE REGULATOR COUNTERBALANCE SPRING MUST BE REMOVED OR REPLACED FOR ANY REASON, MAKE SURE THAT THE REGULATOR ARMS ARE IN A FIXED POSITION PRIOR TO REMOVAL TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY DURING C-SPRING UNWIND.
Remove front door trim panel and front door trim shield . Refer to Section 01-05B .
Trim Panel, Front Door, Explorer Hi-Series, Two-Door and Four-Door
Removal and Installation
Remove the two screws retaining the front door trim panel (23942) located above the window regulator handle (23342) . Also remove one screw in the upper front portion of front door trim panel .
Remove inside door handle cup (22634) at the window regulator handle using a screwdriver or sharp object. Retention nibs will flex for easy removal.
To remove window regulator control switch (14529) and outside rear view mirror control (17B676) , use notch located at lower end of outside rear view mirror control using a screwdriver to lift and remove.
Remove outside rear view mirror control from front door trim panel pulling wire harness from inside of front door trim panel .
From bottom of outside rear view mirror control, remove two screws and disconnect connector from switches.
NOTE: Do not pull on the front door trim panel to remove clips from the inner panel holes.
At each plastic clip location, pry the front door trim panel away from the door inner panel using the front door trim panel removing tool from Rotunda Moulding Trim Kit 107-00401 or equivalent.
NOTE: Pay special attention to the cut-out in the door trim panel for the door handle, so that it clears the handle during removal without breakage.
When wiring and disengagement of trim clips is completed, it is recommended that to remove panel, lift slightly to remove flange at the top of door trim panel from trough in the glass weatherstrip.
Disconnect socket and bulb from illuminated interior lamp (13776) before total removal of front door trim panel.
For installation, follow removal procedures in reverse order. Replace any bent, damaged or missing plastic clips on the front door trim panel to the front door trim panel , firmly loading clips into slots provided on front door trim panel .
Trim Panel, Front Door, Explorer Hi-Series Four-Door
Remove inside door belt weatherstrip and glass stabilizer.
Remove front door window glass as described in this section.
Remove two nut and washer assemblies attaching the equalizer bracket.
Remove three rivets (manual) or four rivets (power) attaching the regulator base plate to front door trim panel finish panel (23712) .
Remove window regulator electric drive and front door window channel bracket from vehicle.
Working on a bench, carefully bend tab flat to remove arm slides from front door window channel bracket .
Install new window regulator electric drive arm plastic guides into front door window channel bracket and bend tab back to 90 degrees.
Use care not to break tab; if tab is cracked or broken, replace front door window channel bracket . Make sure rubber bumper is installed properly on new front door window channel bracket , if replacement is made.
Installation NOTE: The front door window channel bracket and window regulator electric drive are installed into the vehicle as one assembly. The front door window channel bracket may be disassembled from the window regulator electric drive as described in Steps 7 and 8 of Window Regulator, Removal.
Install front door trim panel finish panel with preassembled glass bracket into vehicle. Set the regulator base plate to window regulator electric drive using base plate locator tab as a guide.
Install three (manual) or four (power) rivets (385189-S100) to attach regulator to front door trim panel finish panel .
Two 1/4-20 x 1-inch bolts and two 1/4-20 nut and washer assemblies may be used as alternates for glass retention. However, torque must not exceed 4-7 Nm (3-5 ft-lb). Equivalent metric retainers may be used.
Install equalizer bracket.
Install inside door belt weatherstrip and glass stabilizer.
Lower regulator arms to access holes in front door trim panel finish panel . Install front door window glass as outlined.
Adjust glass to ensure proper alignment with glass run. Cycle glass for smooth operation.
Install front door trim panel and front door trim shield . Refer to Section 01-05B .
Remove the rear door trim panel and watershield. Refer to Section 01-05B .
Trim Panel, Rear Door, Explorer, Hi-Series Four-Door
Removal and Installation
Remove the two screws retaining the rear door trim panel (27406) located above the door handle.
Remove trim cup at the door handle using a screwdriver or sharp object. Retention nibs will flex for easy removal.
To remove window regulator switch plate (14524) , use notch located at lower end of plate using a screwdriver to lift and remove.
Remove window regulator switch plate from rear door trim panel pulling wire harness from rear door trim panel .
From bottom of window regulator switch plate , remove two screws and disconnect connector from window regulator control switch (14529) .
At each plastic clip location, pry the rear door trim panel away from the door inner panel using the door trim panel removing tool from Rotunda Moulding/Trim Kit 107-00401 or equivalent.
Remove panel, lift slightly to remove flange at the top of rear door trim panel from trough in the glass weatherstrip.
For installation, follow removal procedures in reverse order. Replace any bent, damaged or missing plastic clips on the rear door trim panel to the door inner panel, firmly loading clips into slots provided on rear door trim panel .
If equipped with power windows, disconnect the wire from the regulator.
Remove the rear door window glass as described in this section.
Remove the window guide, if equipped, (nuts and washers). Remove guide from door belt opening.
Remove three 1/4-inch rivets attaching motor bracket (electric) to inner panel and two 1/4-inch rivets attaching regulator lower bracket to inner panel. Use drift punch to knock out center pins for each rivet.
NOTE: Use care not to enlarge sheet metal holes in the door inner panel when drilling.
Using a 1/4-inch diameter drill, drill out the remainder of the rivet.
Remove two upper regulator attaching nuts.
Remove regulator from the front door (20125) .
Installation
Lubricate regulator mechanism with Multi-Purpose Grease D0AZ-19584-AA or equivalent.
Install regulator into access hole in inner panel.
Position regulator using upper regulator studs and tabs on motor mounting bracket (electric) or cup mounting plate (manual).
Install rivets attaching regulator to door inner panel (1/4-20 x 1/2-inch bolt and 1/4-20 nut and washer assemblies or equivalent metric fasteners may be used as alternates).
Install two upper regulator attachment nuts.
Install door glass as outlined under Door Glass Installation.
Adjust glass as outlined under Adjustments .
Reconnect wire to regulator, if equipped.
Check operation of window regulator.
Install door watershield and trim panel. Refer to Section 01-05B .
