2006 Hyundai Tycson GL Headlight Problems

Bought two new headlight assemblys off of Amozon, installed them, replaced light blubs, low beam isn't very bright. High beam indicator works on high and dims alittle but doesn't go completely out on low beam. Replaced turn signal and headlight switch today, no difference. Checked head light plug with volt meter, 3 prongs were 12 volt on hight beam on low beam one prong goes to 6 volt and the other two stay at 12 volts.

SOURCE: Left low beam is dim

The mechanic didn't hook up the ground wire. The system is using the other light as it's ground and when this happens it causes the other light to go out.

Check the ground wires

SOURCE: High beam headlights quit working. Bulbs are OK.

When you checked the bulb plug and got 12 volts, did you meter ground some where else on the car? If so, you might check ground also at the plug.

CHANGED HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ON 2002 JEEP LIBERTY ONLY HIGH BEAM LIGHT COME ON

Try flicking the mulit-function switch high beam on and off. There has been known problems with this switch, but mostly the first place to start is with some new light bulbs.
Or possibly your low beam filaments are burnt out. You have to replace the bulbs. Each bulb has a lowbeam and a high beam filament.

2006 Volkswagon Beetle, drivers side headlight, high beam not working

Instructions
    • Turn the headlight switch on and inspect the headlights. Make sure to check both low- and high-beam lights, and then note the position of the bulb in the headlight assembly. Low-beams are in the top cavity of the assembly and high-beams are in the lower cavity.
    • 2Turn off the headlight switch and then remove the keys from the ignition.
    • 3
    • Open the hood and locate the seam to the headlight assembly and the side fender. Locate the headlight assembly release lever and push in on it slightly to unlock it and then pull it all the way up until it stops.
    • 4Place a blanket or pillow on the ground in front of the headlight assembly. Push the assembly outward from behind with one hand while being ready to catch the assembly with the other. The New Beetles use an adhesive sealant to protect the back of the headlights from exposure to moisture, so you'll have to give the assembly a push from behind.
    • 5Pull the wire harness plugs off from both the high- and low-beam blades of the respective bulbs.
    • 6Place the assembly on the blanket or pillow. Release the wire clip to the faulty headlight and then remove the headlight bulb.
    • 7Open the package of the new H1 bulb replacement without touching the glass portion of the bulb with your bare skin. Oils in human skin will damage the bulb. Handle it only by the metal base of the bulb insert.
    • 8Insert the new bulb in the appropriate headlight-assembly cavity and reattach the bulb retaining clip to lock the bulb in place.
    • 9Lift the assembly up and plug the wire harness plugs back into the respective blades of the bulbs.
    • 10Push the headlight assembly into its cavity, but before locking it in place, check the lights by turning on the headlight switch.

How do I remove halogen low beam head light to replace it?

Removal & Installation To Remove:
WARNING
The halogen fog light bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope.
NOTE: The headlight bulb should not be removed from the headlight assembly until just before a replacement bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time may affect headlight bulb performance. Contaminants may enter the headlight assembly where they can settle on the lens and reflector. Never turn on the headlights with the bulb removed.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section. NOTE: Make sure that the headlight switch and the ignition switch are in the OFF position.
  2. Remove the pin-type retainers, screws and the air deflector from the radiator.
  3. Remove the three bolts and the headlight assembly.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Remove the cover from the rear of the headlight assembly.
  6. If equipped with HID, release the spring tabs to remove the low beam bulb, otherwise disconnect the electrical connector and remove the bulb.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the high beam bulb.
HID low beam headlight bulb lin_tc_0085.gif

To Install:
  1. Place the headlight assembly in the proper position.
  2. Install the cover from the rear of the headlight assembly.
  3. Connect the electrical connector.

2004 elantra - front parking light replacement

The little parking light (also known as a city light) is in a plastic connector below the low beam lamp that simply slides out of the headlight assembly.

Grasp the plastic connector and pull back away from the headlight assembly and you will be able to unplug the light from the connector for replacement.
