We replaced the car's battery and now the dash board lights blink

After replacing a dead battery, the dash lights blink off and on continuously even if the vehicle is in motion. I was afraid that it would wear down the battery having them constantly blink. We found that pulling out fuse 11 (power locks) stopped the blink, but now we can no longer use the automatic door locks. There has to be a better solution. What happened when we changed the battery?

Probably your car computer did not reset properly or it has notified and remembered some error. Normally disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and connecting it back should solve the problem. If not, only way to fix it is to get a diagnostics done.

Under the dash on drivers side is the black box for the security system. If you look on the box there is a little red button. Push the button for a couple of secounds and it will click and stop your marker lights and dash lights from flashing. It is a stock anti theft part of the security system. Hope this helps.

I just replaced my battery and had a similar situation with the blinking of the hazard lights. I read your response and found and mashed the button with no avail. I did, however, find a two fuses connected with the box. Through trial and error I found the right fuse to remove that stops the blinking. I assume that the keyless remote no longer works but I do not have that option anyway. Thanks for your help.

You almost certainly have a short circuit in your wiring loom, where charge continues to be drawn from the power circuit, even when the ignition is switched off. From your symptoms, I would guess you have sticky relay in the light circuit, which continues to stay connected even when you switch them off. Check your relays in that circuit and replace them. They shouldn't be too expensive..

Dash board

That is a light to let you now there is a problem with the anti-theft system. If it is on all the time a fault has been detected. The car should continue to start but may not start if the battery is disconnect, goes dead, or is replaced.

If it comes on when you start the car and then goes out there is no problem. This is a normal bulb check.

if it is blinking and the vehicle will not start than the anti-theft system is armed and needs to be relearned.

Replace mega fuse

Buy a voltohm meter to test voltage at battery. Should be 13.8 to 14.2 volts. Sometimes need alternators need to be "enegized".

Car security system

If the red light that stopped blinking is on your dash board, then your car battery is most likely dead. All the problems you mentioned above happen when the battery is bad or dead. Auto Zone will test the battery free of charge to see if it's still good or time to get a new one. They will also re-charge the battery if it is good. Check to see if your battery posts & the connection terminals to it are clean & tight. If there not..... then your car's charging system can't re-charge it. Also have Auto Zone check to see if it's the RIGHT battery for your car, & have them test your alternator. There all free services Auto Zone does.

My bmw 320i 05 model wont start (no sound) and there is no dead battery sign on the dash board

If your battery is dead enough, even the dead battery indicator won't light. Take the battery to an autoparts store for a bench test/charge first before trying anything else.

Our chrysler concorde LXI 2000 has a blinking red light at the very top of the dash board where the dash and the window meet. What is this light. It continues to blink even when the car is off.

Its a built in alarm. If im not mistaken when you exit you vehicle, push the door lock button from the driver side, clothes all doors, and your lights should flash. If there is no remote for it, turning it off you will have to put the key in the ignition and turn to on.
