1999 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5.2 engine will not crank.

Truck was running great. Engine sensor light would flash on and off sometimes after a recent oil change but mechanic said it was a faulty fuel injector sensor. Cleaned all the injectors and sensor finally went off. No other indication of a problem. Ran perfect all day yesterday. Went out this morning and one click. No crank. Oil level if fine. Lights and radio all work. Just no crank. Cable going from battery to starter is secure. No loose connections.

You said you have fuel flowing from the inlet line of the injection pump? But not at the injector lines?

SOURCE: 2002 chevy express fuel pump/crank sensor?? not starting

i had a similar problem and called the dealer during lunch hour. i talked to a mechanic, the distributor in these vehicles is plastic, and is prone to cracking.not just the cap but the body also, I have been taking the cap off and wiping the moisture out of the cap. or replacing the cap but the problem is I need a new distributor. just a cheep way to get rolling is cleaning the inside of the cap, especially when it is very damp or the outside temp changes alot during the day. good luck.

SOURCE: Truck (2001 Dodge Ram 1500) runs fine. Check

I found that the code is set for:

P1740....TCC Solenoid or Overdrive Solenoid performance

which indicates that a rather inexpensive fix is in order, not a complete transmission replacement!! The TCC is the solenoid which controls the locking of the transmission converter so that you get better gas mileage with no "slippage" while at highway speeds, which is normal when the converter is unlocked as you slow down. If it is locked and the solenoid fails to release it the car will stall when you come to a stop since the fluid in the converter fails to act as a clutch and the engine is connected directly to the transmission input shaft. If it never locks then the oil in the transmission will overheat at highway speeds since ther "slippage" will always be present in the converter cauasing frictional heating of the oil.

Whenever you get a quote from a shop ALWAYS get at least two more!!! No matter what the job is, even a muffler replacement get many quotes. Go to a reliable transmission repair shop and ask for their opinion. In my humble opinion the shop that told you that you need a new transmission is just hungry for work - stay away!!!!

04 DODGE Ram hemi cylinder 3 misfire

Check engine compression and compare. then test running engine compression most engines have about 130-170 cranking compression and about 90-110 running compression. OR bring that cylinder to its Top Dead Center compression stroke apply air to the cylinder and check to see where the air is going open throttle plate bad intake valve, from exhaust pipe bad exhaust valve, from oil cap piston rings.

My Truck is a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 Ltr. engine 5 speed manual trans. Truck died battery is good lights all work. starter cranks engine over I've got fuel pressure. but no spark I pulled plug wire...

Very possible it's the crank sensor. You can put a test light on the ground side of the coil and crank it over.. if nothing happens while cranking, good possibility, but there are a lot of them! Could be a simple relay, dirty or loose connection!

1999 dodge ram 1500 4X4 air bag light, check gauges light, oil pressure and gas guage all came on. Then they would all go out. Now truck will not start.

Well the air bag light would not have anything to do with the engine. The warning light for the gauges would come on if the gauges needed attention. And that would happen if the engine died.
When you turn the key on, does the gas gauge register ?
Do you have spark and fuel pressure when you crank the engine ?

Changed manual clutch in a 2000 dodge ram 1500 2wd v6 truck got it back together now it turns over but won't crank

Do you mean that the engine will not fire or run? If that is what you mean, When you replaced the clutch you may have damaged the Crank shaft position sensor. It is located on the passengers side of the engine. where the Bell housing and engine block are bolted together, Just above where the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe meet. It is bolted to the engine block with 2 bolts. If you do not know it is there and even if you do it is easy to damage.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 318 engine no spark no signal to coil i changed cam positioner sensor and crank positioner sensor still no spark could it be a bad wire (ground)somewere

Check the ASD relay in the fuse box. Swap it with the starting relay. If the engine fails to roll over. Thats your problem. If not, check and see if your fuel injector connectors have voltage to them if not its a bad PCM. Hope this helps.
