SOURCE: 2004 dodge ram rear end noise

while you had the cover off did you by chance look at the condition of the ring gear and spider gears...if it was run for any length of time low on fluid or with two different sized tires you may need some repairs but first inspect the ring gear and rotate till you can see the 4 little beveled gears inside the differential ....use a screwdriver and check for excess movement...look at the crossshaft and look for wear.....hope this points you in the right direction.

SOURCE: i have a dodge ram 1500 4x4 quadcab the rear end

The problem is almost always caused by the clips that hold the clutch disc in place on the po-si rear-ends.The clip will come lose and catch between the carrier clamp and cause metal parts to be deposited in the housing causing the front and rear pinion bearing to wear. Howling while accelerating is the rear pinion bearing. Howling while decelerating is the front pinion bearing. Sometimes you can get by with just replacing the clips and pinion bearings. Clips can be ordered out of California. For around $70.00 .The dealer will want to sell the entire assembly. Which does not include the pinion and bearings. The longer you go the more damage that will be done. If you can't do this yourself. No one is going to repair just part of the assembly and warranty.

2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4.There is a grinding noise only in 4 wheel drive only when turning.Rear differencial fluid was just replaced.

This sounds like a bad CV shaft. Check the boots for grease on the outside of them or torn boots the grease may have already washed out and wiped out the joints.

1997 dodge ram pu 4x4, when I turn corners or start moving I hear a grinding noise coming from the rear end area. Any idea what would cause this and estimated repair?

most common cause is rear pads sticking (rust) and when you move, it has to break the rust from the rotor, hence the grinding noise.as long as it only does it when you start moving or turn first thing do not worry.....
