My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder does still blow warm air through the vents, but the defrost vent is only partially blowing (i.e. doesn't seem like there is enough air being blown to defrost the whole windshield). If I drive 'in town' speeds, it defrosts only the part of the windshield under the defrost vents but the rest of windshield stays frosted. The driver's and passenger's windows stay mostly frosted. I think it is worse with highway speeds.

a/c is active when in defrost mode to remove moisture from air. what controls the movement from vent to heat/ or defrost. a lever or switch.

The door in the heater box is most likely stuck. It is located under the dash on the passenger side

You have a problem with the vacuum operation of the dampers that control the direction of the airflow. You will need to pull the front panel of the console and look at the vacuum hoses that attach to the back of the control buttons. If those are attached, look under the dash to see if they are attached to the small bellows that control the dampers. You should pull the glove box out so you can see the damper under the dash to get a look at it and get an idea for how the other one looks. There is a second damper to the left of the one behind the glove box. Behind the bellows there is a small nipple that any loose hoses should be attached to. Take a flashlight along when you start exploring. If those are okay, check the other side.

There is a flap in your heater box that is controled by your vent switch by your heater controls. listen for a vacuum leak. that is common and hopfully the problem. there is vacuum lines that control the vent door that redirects the air to your vents.
Has your dash been messed with recently? if so i would check there first. you should hear a hissing if thats the problem.
Otherwise these also are common for that door flap to break and not switch NE more. thats the only 2 things that i can think of off th wtop of my head to be the problem. this would require the whole dash to come apart if its this problem

common problem, check under dash by the gas pedal if control arms are muving went selecting from ac to heat cuz this it is the control for the vents to go from ac to heat and to defrost.
