2004 Honda Accord EX 4 dr sedan - the radio intermittently stops playing with a loud pop or crackle sound.

I see others have had this exact same issue with their Honda. This is actually my second radio for this car. The first radio had the same issue so I had it replaced with the same radio but used. It worked fine for a year and now the same thing is happening with this one. Does anyone know of a fix for this issue?

The static type sound could be due to fine dust in the volume and other such controls. Please use a vacuum to blowout the dust from these controls. The connections may be OK.

Check the universal joint! Metallic sounds will get worse as it wears until it sounds constant before it breaks. If it;s not the universal joint, it'll be in the suspension. I'm not a mechanic, but I've lived and learned throughout my life. I'm an old guy driving for 55 years! LOL! Hope this helps!

I got this issue with my 1995 Accord LX. Took months to get to the problem. It was two bad spark plugs, both plugs were misfiring - one at a time. But once awhile both plugs misfired at the same time and the radio "reset" - like it was turned off - no sound. (Gasoline smell too.) New plugs? Good luck.

My radio and c/d player will just shut off out of

There is a factory default with the radio circuit board in radios installed in 2003-2004 Honda Accords. Honda will replace or repair the radio free of charge on and extended warranty. The radio will eventually fail for good. I know, as the one in my 2004 Accord failed in March of this year. My Honda dealer replaced the radio with a reconditioned unit absolutely free. Contact you local Honda dealer.

My radio is working, but the display is black. What could be causing this problem in a 2004 Honda Accord EX?
