Immediate drop in voltage on the voltage gauge

When driving my warning light, "check dash gages" came on with a dring. My voltage gauge had dropped to zero. When I turned the Jeep off turned the key to the on position, the power level came up about a quarter of they way. Restarted the Jeep and after a minute or so it immediately dropped to zero accompanied by the warning light and a ding.

SOURCE: Oil pressure gauge drops after running and sitting still

The Oil pressure sensor seams to have gone bad and needs to be replaced soon as possible as they tend to leak oil soon after. There common to go bad and start with that since it's easier then replacing the oil pump, but if you don't hear any ticking from the engine and you have good pressure when the engine is cold then it's the sensor.
The 4 cylinder oil pressure switch is located below the A/C compressor. It is a single wire connection with a gray/yellow striped wire.

The 6 cylinder oil pressure switch is located on the passenger side rear of the block. It is a single wire connection with a gray/yellow striped wire.

Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: I'm receiving a check gauges warning light on my 00 Jeep Grn Cher

This might be a result of an oxygen sensor. If you take the vehicle to a store like autozone, they will attach a diagnostic sensor to your vehicle at no charge, and then reset the unit, and be able to tell you what is going on. This is at no charge, so there is nothing to lose. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: oil pressure gauge goes up when car started, but then down to 0

u Have a problem with the oil sending unit. The sensor is located beack right side of the engine block. Take out the switch and make sure u have good oil PSI. Should be 6 psi at idle and around 50 at 4000 RPM. If the presure is ok replace the switch they are very cheap about 20 bucks. Please rate.

I have a 2004 Ford expedition and the check gage light blink on and off what does it mean

The CHECK GAGE warning indicator will illuminate when either of the following conditions exist:
  • if the engine oil pressure drops below approximately 42 kPa (6 psi)
  • if the engine temperature exceeds approximately 118° C (244° F)
  • if the fuel gauge is at or near empty

While driving all dash gages randomly drop to zero for 1-2 seconds and makes warning beep, gages return to normal but airbag light stays on for 4-5 seconds. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Hi Scott, Im glad to help!

Normally when the gauges drop to zero its because something is bringing down the BUS Circuit. To understand whats going on we need to find out if there are any codes in the system. Have the codes checked and repost here so I can help you further. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Scott.

I had my oil pressure sensor break on my f150 and replaced it but now my oil pressure gage in the cab shows i have pressure until i start it then it drops below empty and say i need oil when i have it...

The oil pressure gauge tells you how much oil pressure the engine has, not how much oil is in the sump.
Sounds like the new oil pressure sensor is the wrong one, or there is a problem with the gauge on the dash. There are two different sensors, one for a gauge and one for a warning light.

I have a 1993 F150 4.9 2 wheel drive, my charging system as not working. I have replaced the alternator and the system will not charge .The voltage goes up and down and when it drops it pegs my gauges to...

You have two fuseable links - one for the main battery circuit and the other for the voltage regulator which includes the stator.
The third wire goes to the gauge or warning light which "turns on" the alternator once it is running.
Does the gauge or warning light work, and have you tested the output of the alternator on the engine ?

What does the check gages light mean?

It means that one of the gauges is registering an abnormal reading, like low oil pressure or an overheating engine. Hence the warning of CHECK GAUGES" Please read your owners manual for more info on this subject.

My dash lights and gages are not working and my night driving lights are not working either... do i need a new cluster

If you mean the parking lights, they are not affected by the cluster.
The gauges are on one fuse, the dash lights are on another, and the parking lights on a third circuit.
I would check for power at the fuses then headlight switch for the lighting problems. And for voltage at the fuse and the connector on the back of the cluster for the gauges problem.

While driving gauges drop and radio loses power

It sounds like you have a bad ground. check ground going to body from battery and also check the dash area for ground.
Possible ignition switch on steering column is melting/overheating.
(Switch is plastic with metal tabs. If they heat up too much, plastic melts and there is no contact.)

Dies while driving

First off, add a new ground wire from the engine to the body just for the hell of it. Now clean all the battery cable connetors aat all point and add WD40 afterwards. Also check connectors from dash panel to engine circuits. This is real suspect. WD 40 them also
