My 2001 Isuzu Rodeo has 124K miles on it. Failed smog test for first time today and threw codes: P0463 (Fuel level sensor CKT High Input), P0300 (Random/Multiple misfire), P0155 (O2 sensor heater fault, bank 2 sensor 1) and P0154 (O2 sensor CKT Inactive, bank 2 sensor 1).
I think I could get a tune-up and clear P0300 but the sensor codes are concerning to me. My check engine light has been on for the past year with no resolution from two different mechanics on making it work properly and what needs to be done. Now I have failed the smog test and need to figure this out quickly. My idle emission tests all passed but my functional check (above) obviously did not. I am a loss as to what to do to fix the problem since I am having trouble finding mechanics in my area who know how to fix this. Any advice would be highly appreciated!
Tune it up and replace the 02 sensor that keeps setting the codes bank 2 sensor 1. Have your oil and filter changed right before you go for a retest to. That will clear up 3 codes P0300, 0155 and 0154. You might have to replace the fuel sending unit to get rid of P0463 but if the gauge works OK I'd leave it alone.
You'll pass if you do that. I know it sounds wierd but changing the oil and filter also helps reduce tailpipe emissions. Remember PCV system burns all those vapors and they make thier way to the tailpipe. 02 sensor. spark plugs and an oil change and I have never had a car not pass after that and Austin TX is strict on emissions.
Good luck. Keep me posted.

Thank you. I was able to have a clear conversation with my mechanic and he thinks if we replace the 02 sensor, we can get it to pass without doing the fuel sending unit replacement at this point. He can't get the unit without the new fuel pump so we are going the O2 (less expensive) route first. I really appreciate the helpl!!!
Yes, I am planning on having the oil and filter changed and spark plugs are a good idea too. My gas mileage is horrible and my mechanic thinks it's from the O2 sensor being faulty. So, I take it in tomorrow and keep fingers crossed. I will let you know what happens!
