My wife had a power invertor plugged into the cigarette lighter so she was able to plug in a hair straightener while she was driving down the road, putting her makup on, and straightening her hair. When all of a sudden the cigarette lighter stopped working and needless to say so did the hair straightener, she arrived at her destination with frazzled hair.

if the fuse is good and there is no relay then either you have a loose ground/positve wire or the socket is bad. you can easily purchase a after market socket from Napa or Oreillys for a few dollars of the problem is not a loose wire or bad fuse. good luck please rate this solution...thanks

hopefully nothing serious. if you can, make sure your wires did not burned or got too hot.Visually inspect them. Then, if you have a voltmeter check to see if you getiing power to it. no voltmeter? Go to your nearest auto parts store and ask for a test light. Back to the lighter, if you have power on the wires or wires leading to the back of the lighter, more than like it you lighter burned out. No power on the wires? make sure wire did not get fryed or burned, all wires look good? check fuses again. worst case scenario, can't find problem ? you can run another wire from your fuse box to the lighter.

The fuse box cover should tell you which fuse controls the lighter. Also, I've seen it where the people forget to hook the harness up to connect the lighter unit
Testimonial: "the fuse pannel doesn't say which one is for the lighter. i have a few empty spaces "
