Yes you can replace it yourself only takes about 40 minutes to change and the easiest way to know where to look for it is to follow the top hose for the readiator to the motor.there will be a clamp to remove the hose and then there will be 2 bolts that hold the housing on and you will see the thermostat under the housing when you pullit out

Or a Air pocket, it happens when you fill coolant to fast, run the car with coolant cap off to see if is going down, your thermostat required to reach a certain temperature to open up..hope this helps before you go spend a bunch a money, it could as simple ad bleeding the coolant system..

My 2010 Chevy Traverse is overheating. What should I do?e

Do you know for sure it's over heating ? Are the cooling fans working ? Have you ever had the thermostat changed ? Do you know how to work on cars ,probably not if your asking here ! Take it to the dealer or a ASE certified repair shop ! The gauges on vehicles do go bad making you think it's overheating . What makes you think it's overheating !

Why is 2003 Pontiac aztec says it's overheating, but it's not the car shuts down have had every thing possible replaced! Just finished taking out the thermostat for third time. Main intake gaskets replaced...

What says it's over heating ? Temp. gauge ? Message on DIC ? what ? GM instrument clusters had problems with stepper motors . 2003 to 2006 . Replaced bunches of them . people would think the vehicle was really over heating , but wasn't . After replacing all the parts like you did ,an still not fixing the problem ,would bring to the shop . The proper way to diagnose would be to hook up a factory or professional scan tool an see what the temp sensor is telling the PCM - engine computer . Use a infrared thermometer an see what the temp is . does it match what the scan tool shows . What info is the instrument cluster receiving from the PCM over the class 2 serial data network . Do all this from the driver seat before replacing parts . Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop.

Thermostat is probably bad.

Without knowing what year your car is, the thermostat could be here:

.To test the thermostat, put it in a pot of boiling water. If it clicks, it works. If not, then replace it.

Overheat 2001 hyundai tiburon

Only 2 parts remaining are the thermostat and waterpump. Always start with the thermostat when diagnosing an overheating problem. If the car is overheating constantly under all conditions and coolant is backing up into the reservoir, it's very likely to be the thermostat. If it only overheats at low speed or idling, it's more likely the waterpump.

there have been issues with the engine wiring harness on top of the engine deteriorating, which can lead to poor performance or poor accelleration and idle quality. make certain you follow proper tune up and maintenance procedures and intervals as requested in owners manual. it is NOT inexpensive for parts or labor, BUT you get what you pay for when you have it serviced. try to continue going to the same dealer at which it has been maintained at, as they will have the service history on your vehicle, or, find a competent and qualified garage thru several references to prevent heartache and pain

Replacing the battery in a 2001 mercedes benz

Battery base has a device that clamps the battery on a step/notch on the side. Use a ratchet with an extension to loosen. Once it is loose you can remove the battery.

I had that problem before, the intake manifold gasket leaks. After replacing it runs like a charm. I have an '01 also and still have it.
