Yes you can replace it yourself easily.it only takes about 40 minutes to change and the easiest way to know where to look for it is to follow the top hose for the readiator to the motor.there will be a clamp to remove the hose and then there will be 2 bolts that hold the housing on and you will see the thermostat under the housing when you pullit out
