Some displays contain chips to drive the gauges, and these can fail within the instrument unit.

There are specialist firms that will test, repair and replace defective components for a fraction of dealer prices. I sugest you start looking online at specialist companies offering this in your area.

This one is typical -

Of course, you should check any fuses are blown before going any further.

This may be 2 seperate problems, fuel guage issue may be the fuel guage sending unit, the temp guage may be a stuck open thermostat. Have the engine temp checked after driving at least 5 miles, does the gas guage ever move around even a little, if so it is the fuel gauge sending unit in the tank.

We have a 1992 hondal prelude that got hit in the drivers side door. After that it lost power. I t doesn't have any spark or fuel.

try replacing the main relay. location is under the steering column usually bolted down with a single bolt. this relay controls spark and fuel.

My car over heafs when stuck in traffic. It's a Honda Prelude 89 model.

make sure you cooling fan is coming on (this should when the temp guage starts to climb) and also make sure the temp sensor that turns it on/off is good. You could also have low coolant or bad thermostat (the wrong mix of coolant) or oher major mechanical issues but start with the fan and coolant level/mix

I have a 1992 honda prelude. During a hard acceleration, the car fails to accelerate. Instead, it produces rough sound as if it is not getting a consistant amount of fuel. Slow acceleration is OK. Also...

Check for free play on distrubtor.
If you has a known good disturbutor then do the swap.

===== Lite white smoke during warm up is OK.
If the white smoke is still noticable after 15 minutes of start up then you should start monitor the coolant level and oil level.
If the temp. is raising then it can be stage one of blown headgasket.

Keep track of the temp. and make sure the oil is not getting a white/creamy texture.
DO NOT drive it if it's overheating.

Try taking all fuses out (engine bay box and larger fusebox to right of drivers right foot), checking for poor/dirty fuse contacts. Check all visible wiring plugs/sockets for looseness & wire damage (could be rubbing of something). Could be something loose going to ECU box.

Sounds like a fuel pump problem. Have you checked the output of the fuel pump?

Idle probs

Check your idle control valve. You might have to replace it, 80-90 bucks new. Or see if there is an air leak from the intake manifold. had the same problem.
