1999 ACCORD - the cruise control no longer works. The main dash board switch to switch it on/off, does not even light up. The controls on the steering wheel do not work and no lights showing up on the dash board. The fuse has been checked and ok and even swapped.
Now the interesting bit is that it only stopped working after I had my clutch and clutch cylinder replaced!
Any pointers ?
Rashy.

No, I don't think they started lighting them in the Accord until around 2005. I had a 2004 and always had to feel around for them in the dark. If I remember correctly, they had some ridges or bumps on them to help identify them by feel.

Look for the obvious. Check for the cable that goes to the throttle to see if it came off or broke. Also look for any leaks in the vacuum system. A small leak will cause it not to work. The unit may be engaging but with one of these problems, it just won't work.
Good Luck

the most common cause of this is the rotating ribbon contact for the steering wheel switches is defective, this contact ribbon is under the steering wheel and is commonly called the clock spring contact.

Hi!!
Let's start by checking the cruise control throttle linkage cable, just follow the cable coming from the cruise control servo to the throttle linkage, were it connects. The plastic clip at the end of the cable gets britle and over time, it brakes.
Check fuse
Check for loose conections and broken wires.
The cruise control system is operated by vacuum, check vacuum hoses for cracks, loose connections and obvious leaks.
Due to the complexity of the cruise control system, this is about all you can do to fix the problem.
If you can't detect the problem, take the vehicle to an authorized service shop for diagnostic and repair.
Good Luck!!!!
