Check the brake light switch located on the brake pedal arm. Its above the pedal under the dash and has a connector with several wires attached to it. The switch is either bad, broken, or out of adjustment. If you have to step on the brake to shift out of park there is also a another switch located there as well.

SOURCE: How do you replace the headlight bulb in 2003 Mitsu Outlander?

if you are removing the power clip, grab the recepticle it was plugged in to (look at your new bulb as a reference) and twist counterclockwise. The entire bulb assembly will come out, and replace with the new assembly.

SOURCE: i have a 2007 galant the right rear brake light

The taillight harnesses are very very problematic on the 2004-2008 Galants.
Pull your tail light out again, and take the bulb out of the socket and look into the socket. You should notice that the two little contacts are slowly melting into the connector.

The harness is available for about $20 at your local dealer. Most dealers stock them, as they fail regularly.

The problem is a Headlight module. Fuse box under the hood has two black modules side by side, the one on your right is the headlight module the one on the left is the fan module. Try swapping them, if the headlights work replace bad module, don't drive vehicle with the bad module in the fan slot. Mine kept going bad because I had a high intensity bulb on one side.

Rear light and stoplight dont work

well id start simple. First check your fuse, then check your relays(under the hood). If fuses are good, check the bulbs themselves, when you take them out, look at them to see if they are still linked together(by the way, wear gloves, oil from your fingers can blow out the bulbs). If the bulbs are good, pull back the carpet in the trunk are to make sure the wires are still connected. If everthing is good, id suspect it your lighting control module.

My day light running lights work but not my night lights

It sounds like your low headlight relay may not be working. not sure on this particular model, but most of them have relays for high and low beam headlamps. these are usually located in the power distribution panel under the hood. before replacing make sure you have power to them. if not check for wiring problem, if power is present try a different relay.

Not your typical brake light problem...

hello what i would do first disconnect the wires off the brake light switch test the power wire to make sure you have power to the switch if you do contact them to bypass the switch completely test see if your lights are lit if not i would trace the wiring back to the sockets contacts inside might be corroded or wires in the socket are not contacting the metal tab or broken at the crimp they sell replacement sockets you can splice into the harness if you dont have power at the break light wires you need to trace wires back to fuse panel first check to make sure there is not a secondary fuse box under your hood usually on drivers side near the strut tower usally says fuses goodluck please rate
