2002 Alero check Engine light Codes P0132, P0137

Light has been on for about 2 years, Replaced both O2 sensors twice. Catalitic converter and Muffler twice. Most of the driving is highway driving. if prolonged city driving the light will go out for a while, how ever it appears that the gas milage goes down. I am at looking for solutions. my mechanic says that every thing checks out while idling in the shop and the codes indicate it is the O2 sensor or the catalitic converter. It appears that he want to keep replacing parts until we get the right one

Code P0132 is O2 sensor voltage high bank1 sensor 1, P0137 is O2 sensor voltage low bank 1 sensor 2, P1189 indicates a fuel control problem bank 1. It could be either the O2 sensors or a convertor. Could also be intake manifold gaskets. GM had a lot of problems with the lower intake gaskets leaking on the 3.1 and 3.4 engines that was linked to their Dexcool coolant. In fact they just lost a class action lawsuit about it. check with the dealer and see if the intake problem has been taken care of. Hope this helps.

2002 Dodge 5.2. What are the codes P0031, P0037, P0132, and P0137 please.

Old question that must have been resurrected by spam, but I fixed the dreadful written English tossed in some CAPS and a few SPACES! It looks pretty now.

All questions need full 'year make model', rather than 'year make, engine size'.

Anyway, there is this thing called Google. It knows everything. Here is your first code. Just copy and paste the others in and press enter.

What Does P0031 Mean?

The P0031 code is a result of the bank 1 HO2S1 (pre catalytic converter heated oxygen sensor) heating element having low voltage. Heated O2 sensors have a seperate heater inside the sensor to get them to operating temperature quickly.Oct 1, 2018

2000 Suburban 8V 5.3L codes P0171, P0174, and P0137 (Knock sensor). I had my catalytic convert checked by muffler shop they maintain it is fine for now. What order should I do repairs? Suggestions.

P0137 is a bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor circuit low input . Low fuel pressure , water in fuel , too much ethanol in fuel , leaking intake gasket or vacuum lines can set this code and the others as well .

Hi how u doing, my car honda odyssey 1999 has check engine light on code number p0132 i replaced the o2 sensors 3 times already what do u think i need to do

Hello Hazem Hammad,

Check out the exhaust system...

You might have a catalytic converter or muffler
blocking the OUT-FLOW.

Unless you are into DIRTY jobs... and LIQUID WRENCH...
Consider your local friendly muffler shop...

JUST MAKE SURE you know your
PRICES BEFORE going in...

A wee bit of dirt can save A BUNCH of money
(if you don't drop the car on yourself).

Choose wisely... be safe!!

I just get a 2000 lanos but the check engine ligth is ON when i put it the code reader says to me 2 codes : 1st code is P0137 and p1336 say a lot lf items but got to be only one of those , whath can be???...

Essentially the same as P0136, P0137 refers to the second oxygen sensor on Bank 1. P0137 means the O2 oxygen sensor's voltage remained low for longer than 2 minutes. This, is interpreted by the ECM as a low voltage condition and sets the MIL. Bank 1 Sensor 2 is located to the rear of the catalytic converter and should produce an output signal relative to oxygen storage capacity of the catalytic converter. This rear (sensor 2) sensor is less active than the signal produced by the front sensor. However, if the ECM senses the sensor is inactive, this code will set.

Symptoms There may be no visible symptoms to the driver, other than the MIL (Check Engine / Service Engine Soon) illumination.

Causes
A code P0137 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty O2 sensor Exhaust leak near the rear sensor
  • Plugged catalyst
  • Short to voltage on O2 signal circuit
  • High resistance or open on O2 signal circuit

  • Possible Solutions
  • Replace faulty sensor
  • Repair exhaust leak near the rear sensor
  • Check for restriction in catalyst and replace as necessary
  • Repair short, open, or high resistance on o2 signal circuit
The other code is your crankshaft position sensor. You need to replace both of the sensors and the check engine light will go off.

Car keeps shutting off

I can solve part of your problem. I would check the crakshaft position sensor. These are located behind the harmonic balancer. This will caues the engine to shut off when the engine is at opperating temperature. As for your fluctuating fuel needle, I have a question for you. Do you use Shell gas at all? If you do then their detergents in the gas has eaten away at your fuel sending unit and it needs to be replaced. Only use Esso, PetroCanada (if you are in Canada) or Chevron gas if at all possible. Shell has had dealer bulletins about GM and Dodge not using their gas. The check engine light is usually a faulty O2 sensor but replace the CP sensor first.

Please Help... p0404 and p0137 Error Codes (1999 Saturn SL1)

hey if you truely think it is your egr valve unhook it and if that is the problem then when it is unhooked it should run better and the codes should not come up. hey if you cahnged the 1 o2 sensor and not the other you probably made the code for the one u repalced come up again. i would recommened that you change both of the o2 sensors at the same time. try checking if your catalatic convert is plugged. how you do this is take a dollar bill and hold it at the end of your tail pipe while it is idleing and if the dollar bill stays still you have a plugged catalatic converter.
