My suggestion is to make sure there's no oil spilled from putting any in. Take it to a car wash leave engine ON stay away from fuse box and battery tray. Use the engine degreaser mode and wash your engine rinse thoroughly with the rinse mode after. If the problem still occurs. Check to see around top of motor if any smoke is coming out or if fluid is coming from valve cover. If so replace the valve cover gasket which is usually cheap.

Thank you steven, it's make sense and I will try to do this. I was wondering also if the PCV is pluged, I could not find PCV routeling valve like in many small cars and the passages are clean & hoses are okay. I'll follow your advice it's seems like good strategy. thanks again....Tzion.

probably not. put aluminum seal in the cooling system and top off antifreeze. you may need a hose or fitting from where you are decribing the leak. if the leak stops with the sealant you are good to go. otherwise take it to a shop and they will tell you. do not tell them you think it is a head gasket.

This may be as simple as a split heater hose, you need to locate the leak, check the hoses going into the firwall, the clamps may have eventually pressed into the old hose causing a split. to eliminate this simply replace the heater hoses and clamps, the smell is more than likely coolant leaking onto the exhaust. Check it out, drive safely.

It should be a serpentine belt. Was the belt about 1 inch wide and there are no other belts hooked up when you look under the hood?It connects everything a/c,alternator,power steer, power brakes. If that is the case(1 belt)you will need to contact a Ford dealer or look for a sticker under the hood showing how the belt is routed. Some makers have the sticker, some don't.I don't think my 1995 Ford does though. The belt will be cheaper at a national auto parts store than a dealer if you are going to try to self-repair.Good luck! SOURCE: 2002 Ford Taurus Burning rubber smell white smoke

Is there a squealing noise like the pulley may have locked up? Make sure you don't have wiring getting hot.Check all areas near the exhaust and at the firewall area where the EGR piping comes off the exhaust.
Make sure nothing is laying against the exhaust or catalytic converter. don-ohio

White smoke under hood but not over heating. what could this be?

The rubber smell leads me to believe a coolant hose is leaking and getting ready to burst. Better get it fixed immediately!

I have a 2003 ford taurus and I smell gas fume sometime. I looked under the hood and under the car no leaks

Gas will evaporate almost immediately. You have to inspect every inch of the fuel system with the engine running looking for wet spots and stains.

Extreme fuel smell coming from engine, no leaks underneathe the 2002 Ford Taurus. What could be leaking. Already replaced vapor canister.

if you can not find a fuel leak under hood, then check for a bad fuel pressure regulator. if it goes bad it will emit gas fumes under hood. is the check engine light on!! if so it may be the regulator or another leak. also check the evap system, could be a bad or broken hose ( underhood ). check all fuel lines from front to back.

You are burning oil for sure, if it was a leak you would have a large puddle under the car when it was parked and the underside would be covered in oil all the way to the gas tank. Modern catalytic converters tend to burn off oil so many times you see little smoke

Check under the car to see if you ran over something plastic and it stuck on your muffler system and melted
