Temperature Control not working on 1999 Ford Explorer

You need the a/c system charged

the heater vacuum motor and lines needs to be checked.Also get the blend door checked.

NO HEAT ON FLOOR VENTS

The blend door actuator is probably bad in it causing the warm air to blow out instead of cold air. It is behind the dash.

It may take several hours for a technician to get at it and replace the parts required for it to work again.

Make sure that the tubing around the accumulator is getting cold.
If not, the refrigerant may not be charged up.
Otherwise, the vacuum motor for selecting cold air may be not working correctly causing heated air from the heater core to be routed to the interior of the car.

Do you hear the vacuum motors working when adjusting the heat to cold selector? or changing the thermostat temperature if so equipped?

In the box that is mounted evaporator and heater is a gate that operates with vacuum and the temperature selector is opened and closed to pass the airepor the evaporator or the heater

There is a Flap on heater box and on some of those it is motor controlled, but it sounds like the flap is not switching back and forth

The hot/cold switch is probably bad.you have a blend door box that opens to let the cold air in and closes to let the hot air in.From what you are saying this part is no responding to the switch movement.Make sure power is at the switch and power should go through the switch when put on cold air this moves the blend door.Some times the blend door goes bad and has to be replaced its under the dash on the right side.

check your air diverter doors, sounds like the door for heat is open, when a/c is selected the doors should move and close the heater off. the heater will over power the a/c. the door controller is located on the environmental station under the dash neat to the floor. the control is electronic and probably not functioning

change your Heater Control Valve. I've seen a quite a few of them do this and it's almost always the valve
