A little more info on the headlight problem on the 2003 Marquis. The headlights work most of the time, When I first start the car after long periods of sitting they work. If I turn off the car and and return and restart the car after approx. 10 minutes the parking lights work but headlight don't. If I put on highbeams and hold in place the Headlights work (only highbeams)???

SOURCE: Headlights work intermitently

HI,Inspect the #27 fuse holder of the Central Junction Box (CJB) for a questionable contact issue with the male spade of the fuse, which may cause intermittent loss of contact.if ok sounds like you need lcm= light control module.

SOURCE: 2003 mercury grand marquis headlights will cut out

My 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis has the same problem. We found out it was the headlight module located under the dash above the gas pedal. The black box has wire connectors coming out of the back. Hitting the box worked for a little while, then I had to reach in the back and wiggle the wire harness. The dealership wants 500.00 to replace the unit. I consider Highway Robbery! They have installed a faulty piece of equipment on my Luxury car that could easily be life threatening but we know it won't be recalled until someone dies because of it. My husband was able to remove the unit and looked it over it had two circuit boards and he was unable to visibly see any problem or loose wire. He cleaned the connectors and used some electrical terminal grease on the wires, this improved it for a short time. The problem still exsists. I have sat for 30 minutes or more waiting for them to go through the On/Off cycle till they stay on for the 45 minute ride home from work. I have beat the box with my flashlight (maglights handle the abuse, my fingers and nails don't) till it came loose from the brackets that hold it. I leave my car running while pumping gas, short shopping trips and start it 20 or 30 minutes early before leaving for work. It is frustrating and dangerous. If this is the kind of quality in our American made cars it's no wonder they needed a BailOut! The only thing we have found to "fix" it is to find a used part that could possibly have the same problem shortly down the road or pay the theives at the dealership to replace it.

the recommendation above is strongly sound well but, before psending big amount of money to replace the lighting controller it is better to check the wiring connection of the existing one since i had the same problem, and after i aligned the connection wires, lights became healthy and functioned well.

I have a 2003 grand marquis headlights will not work but the flash the brights will. how to fix it

Probably the 'Lighting Control Module', or LCM. I had the same problem and understand it's common. I bought a rebuilt one off ebay . It's under the dash drivers side, can't miss it, disconnect the plug, loosen the clips (you'll see what I mean), slide it out (took a little force), pop the new one in. Tada!

Good luck.

Wipers quit working. Dealer replaced wiring harness. Now my cruise control, radio and headlights won't work unless headlight dimmer switch is held in the whole time.

Don't know why you would ever be at a dealer for anything

Now you have to go back

Now you see why I say that

You get the car back, all kinds of things
that worked for years, now do not,so why go there

I have a 2004 Mercury grand marquis. The head lights some time will not come on when I turn on the switch. they also will go off sometime with out me turning of the switch. Come on intermittantly. what is...

You have a Relay box under the hood with a collection of Relays. There should be one marked Headlight Relay on a sticker under the panel cover. When you turn on the headlights you are actually activating this relay which connects the battery power to the headlight bulbs.

It sounds like this Relay either has a dirty connector or the Relay is shorting inside. Since you still have working headlights the problem would less likely be a fuse and more likely to be the Relay.

You can get this relay on the aftermarket and easily install it yourself. I hope my solution eliminates your problem.

How do you get the headlight cover off a 1999 Mercury Gran Marquis?

You don't remove the headlight cover. You remove the bulbs from behind the lens assembly. Simply unplug the connector and twist the bulb to remove it.

2005 grand marquis - headlights don't always come on. It seems when I drive the call for a while and turn off - then 15min later the headlights don't always come on

That is a common problem for the Marquis/Crown Vics for the time period. Check the connector (Unplug it and look at it) to the LCM Lighting Control Module the black plastic box with slots cut in it and a white plug with wires in it. It is under the dash to the left of the brake pedal. Unplug it and then plug it in and see if that helps. Ford will want an arm and two legs for it. Check a junkyard or Ebay.
Google it for a pic or go to this Ebay link to see the pic.

Headlights constantly go on and off, all other lights stay on my 2003 mercury grand marquis. where are the relays located?

Sounds like a bad headlight switch, the 2003 mercury marquis has a circuit breaker built into the headlight switch that goes bad.
Check with your mercury dealer for a headlight switch recall.

All lights work but my headlights dont, I can pull back on the high beems they work but when I try my head lights they do not.started out they where on and then went out, checked the fuse it looked good

If you have an AUTO off/on/delay this could be malfunctioning, you may also need a need headlight switch however, First check your low beam halogen bulbs if they are bad replace BOTH at the same time they tend to fail at a similar time and this is the least costly repair NOTE wen changing these do not touch bulb with bare hand as oils from your skin can cause the to heat unevenly and explode inside your headlight assembly Use rubber gloves most Parts stores have these available for this reason
