My wife has a 2003 Saturn L300. Just a couple of days ago the headlights started coming on by themselves after dark with the car shut off and no key in the ignition. Pulling the fuses shuts them off, but when you put them back in, the lights come back on again after a while. If you start the car then turn it off, the lights still stay on. Could it be, or does it have a twilight sensor?

first problem, went to autozone. the guy that looked at your car was making pizzas last week. they pull codes and sell you every part you will buy. take the car to the saturn dealer and replace the bcm.

Sorry to say but it's probably the BCM (body control module) that's going in her car. The BCM controls everything inside your car, from the gauges, locks, daytime running lamps, ABS... and yes the security system. I have a 2003 L200 which had the same problem and I had to replace the BCM at some cost ($400-$600) depending on where you go. The L-Series Saturns seem to have a problem with their BCMs and it seems that it's pretty prevalent. Unfortunately it will only get worse as time goes on and it's not something that you can do yourself as it needs to be programmed by the dealer. You also will need to get your remotes reprogrammed as well with the new BCM. Hope this helps.

I guess you need to find out why the service engine light is on and start there. That is why they come on to let you know that there is a problem that requires immediate attention.

its common for the ignition lock cylinder or the ignition cylinder housing to fail on 2000-2001 L series saturns. Try using another key to see if that helps.

It should have an ambient light sensor usually on top of the dash pad , a small eye like a camera lens . It can be tested with an ohmmeter.
