Car battery problem

I installed a new battery in my daughters car a couple of weeks ago. After installation of battery, the digital clock display on radio stays on all the time. This wouldn't be a big deal but the car needed a jump start the other morning. I'm going to check the alternator next for voltage output, but just wondering if there is something else draining the battery.

The alternator test will likely indicate a charging problem from the alternator that is not keeping the battery charged up.
Regardless of the alternator test, it would be best to do an electrical draw test to determine whether there is an excess drain on the battery. This can be done with an ammeter between the positive terminal and the positive battery post. This test is done with key off, all accessories off, no lights on, etc. There will be a small draw on the battery in all newer vehicles, but it should be in the order of up to 50 milliamps. If you are getting more than 200 milliamps of current draw then there is a problem with an electrical system that will drain the battery over a period of days or weeks. Once you know this is true, the electrical systems can be methodically tested.

Installed new battery a few weeks ago thinking it was the problem being it was 6 years old. If the unit sits for more than a couple of days-dead battery.

that means that theres somthing wrong with the wiring, could even be the alternator u need a lot of time to ckech that out cause u need to find a cable that is on contact with ground, thats whats taking away the power on your battery probabbly.

Digital clock on radio is displayed all the time

Those Luminas all did that. I ran a taxi fleet for awhile that used Luminas and they all had that clock displayed 24/7. It didn't cause problems though, unless we left other things on, or our battery connections were less than perfect. The side post battery was more problem than you might think. Good luck. TT
