It took Mercon Dextron III.

Of course, MD IV, V or Mutli-Vehicle would be better (the new multi-vehicle formula is what is being widely recommended by all nowadays).

1987 benz 300 E is slow or doesnt want to go in drive when first started, it is an automatic transmission. what could be causing this?

Have you checked your fluid level? If it's too low on fluid, it won't shift gears, and if it does, it shifts very roughly. Or perhaps even your gear line could be bad.

I need to know how to check the fluid level, AND, what the capacity is for the car (1987) transmission.... Do you check it hot or cold? Thanks,

Dexron II and 6.2 Litres to drain and fill it (filter change). if there is not a dipstick near the firewall leading to the transmission.... i'll have a look for the procedure to check the fluid in that car.

Mercedes-Benz Transmission Fluid question

the transmission on your MB is sealed with no way to check the trans fluid level,(no dipstick provided for) that is why the report says "sealed". MB did this to stop customers from overfilling there transmissions, which can cause severe damage if not done properly at the correct fluid temp, this requires special test scan tools.

What transmission fluid can I use in my 1993 Mercedes Benz 190E

AF3 onepx.gif DEXRON®-III Automatic Transmission Fluid
BMW: Power steering use AF3; Models with combined power steering,
hydraulic brake booster, self-leveling suspension system use SLF
Mercedes-Benz: Use only manufacturer approved fluid

Look on the back of the bottle of fluid you are looking to buy, if it does not say is is approved by MB, don't use it.
