SOURCE: Tried starting my 1999 dodge

If your positive and negative terminals are clean, both ends... not just battery, you should hear your starter relay click each time you turn the ignition key to 'start'. If no click, check connections to relay, If still no click, relay may be the problem. Assuming your battery or batteries are charged and you only here the click of the relay and no starter action, good chance the starter solenoid is in poor condidtion, or history. An indication of this problem is the starter would work intermittently and finally quit working.
Its an easy cheap fix. First disconnect you positive cable on the battery so you don't fry yourself or anything expensive. Remove the starter. Undo usually four bolts that hold the starter case together and pull it apart. Its always a good idea to pay attention how it came apart so you put it back together the same way.
The starter solenoid is just an electrical contact switch that conducts high amperage to the starter motor during engine start. The contacts in this switch burn out over time. When you pull the starter housing apart, you will see that the solinoid contact switch is installed within the hump on the side of the starter housing. You will quickly see if the solinoid contacts are burnt or damaged. Most auto parts stores have a whole collection of contacts. I paid 3.85 Canadian for a set that didn't quite match the set in my 95 dodge cummins. 20 minutes of filing saved me the $600.00 my buddies were paying . "Rebuilt' my starter about 5 years ago... and starts every time. Hope this helps someone out.

Get a Haynes book for your model truck for less than $20.00. It has pictures and written directions. It is easy to do.

It is foolish to work on your truck without a service manual. You can order one on the internet or go to a Strauss or Pep Boys store,

2002 Dodge Ram Fuel Delivery Issue

a common problem with all dodge products from 95 or so to recently especially the trucks was running out of gas and the guage 8 times out of ten would read1/4 tank.
to check for this crank it then under hood locate the shradef valve on the fuel rail, remove the cap and depress the valve[like letting air out of a tire] if a spray of fuel comes out that part is ok. but if air or air and a little fuel come out put some gas in it and get a new fuel level sender
ps i am assuming its a gas engine
