Passenger Side Thud

I have a thud coming from the passenger side of my '06 Equinox. It's always three thuds and typically happens when I'm slowing but has occaisionally occured while driving. Since it only happens 3-4 times per week I haven't been able to recreate the noise for a mechanic and at least five of them have looked at it for me. This has been going on for about a year and others hear it when riding with me but no one has a clue what the problem is. Any insight is appreciated! Thank you!

SOURCE: 2006 Chevy Trailblazer makes THUD when accelerating

Check your coolant level, low coolant or air in your cooling system will make a "thud"noise in your heater core when the engine is under load from acceleration. The coolant rushes in to the heater core where the air pocket is trapped and then your hear the noise.
Start with the simple and make sure your coolant level is correct and then try to purge the system to remove the air out for your coolant system.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

SOURCE: Son slid into curb straight on while transmission

without having it up in the air a proper diagnosis is impossible ,an educated guess is the front wheels were pushed back and the drive shafts have pulled out of the gearbox or one of the drive shafts is damaged in some way ,It will need a proper check over by a machanic to dertime whats wrong and weither the car is worth repairinig

SOURCE: There is a small thud

Find a new mechanic!!! Is your factory warranty over?
Can you tell where the thud is coming from? Engine area, under vehicle, in the rear? When the check engine light is on, go to a place like AutoZone and have the code scanned, and have them give a printout. post that info here.

What is causing a Clunk or thud noise

A "click" or "thump" noise can be caused by several factors, including: suspension: Loose or worn suspension components, such as control arm bushings, control arm connections, and struts, can cause rattling noises when climbing over bumps. Drivetrain: Worn or damaged drive shafts, constant velocity joints, or differential components can also cause rattling noise. break: Worn or loose brake parts such as calipers and rotors can cause a rattling noise when applying and releasing the brakes. engine: If the engine rattles, there may be a problem with the engine mounts or the timing belt. These are just some of the possible causes of knocking noise and an accurate diagnosis can only be made by a specialist after an inspection.

i would suspect somewhere in your front end you have a compliance bushing with excessive movement. these cars front ends depend heavily on these style bushings, and as they wear you can start to see tire wear patterns, looseness in steering, and high speed vibration. make sure you have the front end inspected by a shop that is familier with these types of cars. good luck!

''thud'' sound when starting

Is the "thud" sound after start then put in gear or a "thud" just after starting. If "thud" after in gear, could be a CV joint wearing out

Hyundai Tucson 2.0L Year 2006

Sounds like bad CV (constant velocity) joints in the front half shafts.

They make the most noise at a full wheel cut.
