I it's possible that you have a intake or head gasket leak that's going into your engine block signs to check for if your car seems to be missing just a little bit one of your cylinders could tell you the area that the head gasket may be leaking or the intake gasket need to check your coolant level every now and then to see if you are losing any coolant out of your Reservoir or your radiator

Seek out another mechanic. White smoke from the exhaust is a symptom of coolant entering the combustion chamber. Most of the time this is caused by a blown head gasket. A loss of coolant with no apparent leak, a white foamy substance on the underside of the oil fill cap, oil level overfull, and air bubbles escaping from the radiator are other symptoms of a blown gasket or cracked head. Stop driving this vehicle until you have this diagnosed and repaired. A compression test will verify this. Serious engine damage will occur if you indeed have an internal leak so make sure one way or the other.

It's not really good to let a car idle that long, that have catylitic converters, they can get damaged from too much heat build up,which might have happened here, If not I would take and have it checked for a blown head gasket.
