2000 Subaru Impreza Sedan; Couple different noises

When I first start my car, It has a very loud screaching noise. Then, I can turn the engine off then back on and It won't make that noise. At night when I'm on the road I'll stop at a red light then start accelerating and it'll start that same exact screach. I have to completely left off the gas for a good minute inorder for it to stop. Along with this, my steering wheel is extremely hard to turn when my car is first started. Next, when ever I go over a bump, my front right tire makes like a rattling thud kind of noise. Or whenever I don't see one and are going kinda fast it just makes one loud THUD along with an unnatural bounce. This is my first car and I really really need help cause I can't afford a mechanic at this moment. Thank you!

SOURCE: 98 Subaru Rear Transmission Noise/Slipping around corners

I have the same issue. It is the clutch assembly and the 'duty' solenoid at the rear of the trans that tranfers power to the rear diff. My trans light is also on which is the solenoid. The clutch parts can had after market but, the solenoid is dealer only. I'm rebuilding the entire trans at this point (187k miles).

SOURCE: Rattling sound when accelerating on 2007 Forester

On mine, I got under there and there are rocks rattling in the heat shield. There are factory made holes in it, and the rocks sit in there like eggs in a carton and rattle when the engine hits a certain vibration frequency which is basically when it is at a stop light or idling. The repair shop wanted to charge to cut them off but I think I am going to drill bigger holes so the rocks fall out, as they are pretty tiny.

Oil light came on then loud noise sounded like a belt or pully but not sure could it be the engine parts like piston or valve?

Oh man... I sure hope not...
Is there a big oil spot under the car now?
It could very well have been the engines piston rod going thru the block that caused the loud noise ... and the oil pressure to drop to zero at the same time...

Could be an air flow fault, check all your air pipes for holes or splits and also check the air flow meter and sensor. just clean them up before going any further.

Also check the earth lead from the battery to the slam panel, and to the gearbox make sure all the earths have a good contact to the car body.

Rear acceleration noise

Try rear wheel bearings. The cause a roaring noise that increases with acceleration. Sounds very similar to loud road noise.
