I recently started smelling fuel from the engine compartment and found the leak coming from the fuel meter body through the plug going into the fuel meter assembly. I opened the cover to the wires going into the plug assembly revealing each wire designated to a hole and having a rubber plug that the wire went through. Each plug was brittle and broken. I have tried using gas resistant silicone to fill where the line plugs were. Still leaking. Do I need to replace the plug and wiring harness all together, or is there a way to stop the leaking another way.
Are you talking about the
Vortec Fuel Injector Spider or CSFI System
or just the in tank fuel pump and senders assembly 0 ring
its a worry that problem
wiring and fuel in the same place
could ask an auto electrician for the bits you need to fix this
if you go to a wrecker cut off the wires and connectors you need from a wreck to fix
all silicons are short terms fixes
and dissolve in fuel eventually

do you get check engine codes?..have you done a leak down test and compression test to determine mechanical engine health?

A wiring diagram would be usefull.

Another way is also to compare with another working same model.
SOURCE: surging power lose
a maf sensor will cause this also, you can go to any auto parts store and buy the maf sensor spray. follow directions on can. make sure air filter is clean also. my car did the same thing and after I cleaned the maf sensor it has been fine. 3.1 engine, to check sensor, just unplug it and try it on hills or highway. the car will not run very good and may stall out, but if the car does not surge, the maf is the problem.

I pretty much had this same problem what your problem is going to be is more than likely you have a pin hole leek in one of the fuel lines inside the plenum .
