I have a 1991 ford f150 2 wheel drive v8 .i put the key in and it starts fine after i go to turn it off i turn the key back and it does not shut off i had to pull the cables off the battery and the coil wire to shut it off please help

sounds as though the fuel system is set for a differant climate then your living in take it to the shop and get it set for your area

Go to amsoil.com and look up your vehicle. They have a great page that shows fluid capacities for many vehicles. Its some awesome oil too. Puts Mobil 1 to shame.

Check dash gauges. Are they stepper motor type. Check internet for repair service if so. Around $125

On a 1991 F-150 the Fuel Shut Off Switch is located on the left and above where the steering column passes through the floorboard.

1. Turn the Key in the ignition to OFF.
2. Push the Red Reset Button on the Fuel Pump Shut Off Switch
Down.
3. Turn the ignition Key ON for a few seconds, Then turn it OFF,
Now try to start it.

This could be caused by either a faulty Crank Shaft Position Sensor or the anti-theft system. Try put key in, turn to ON position for EXACTLY 10 minutes, As SOON as anti-theft light shuts off or stops flashing, then IMMEDIATELY start the engine.

Have the battery tested first, if it checks ok replace the starter with the new motorcraft gear reduction replacemet, problem 100% solved.

coil could be breaking down after it gets hot which means you need a new one .after it cools it starts
