SOURCE: I have an 2001 oldsmobile

you have a problem known to many alero and pontiac grand am cars you have a bad wheel bearing, this is a common problem with these cars and they will not do a recall on this.you need to have your front wheel bearing hubassemblies replaced its not a bad job can be done by a decent backyard mechanic but a lot cheaper then going to the dealer, just save your reciepts in case they do recall your car for this problem they will reimburse you for your cost. If you have service engine light on, trac. off light and the ABS light on the same time, you may be able to get it fixed my reprogramming the power control module (with updated software calibration).

if car wont start.make sure your battery volts are 12.5.if not charge battery.or replace it if dont hold a charge.if battery is good engine wont turn over.make sure battery cables is clean and tight if all good no start .have starter and starter solenoid check.if battery and starter is good.check for fuel .has some one turn ignition to the on position.go to rear of car listen for fuel pump noise.if your hear fuel pump check ignition system for spark.go to auto parts place buy a spark tester.if you get no spark .check .ignition fuses and ignition module.if you hear no fuel pump.replace relay or fuse.if if fuse and relay good replace fuel pump.if every thing good .your car could have crank sensor problem. or your car is in theft deterrant mode.if so have your car towed in and scanned.

SOURCE: olds intrigue warning lights on...

It is a sign that you either have a bad wheel bearing or 1 off your speed censors on 1 of the tires is bad, I just had this problem with my olds alero, but it was a wheel bearing that needed replaced.

How to reset anti-theft on a 2000 alero

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

Do you know why whenever my radio was taken and now my car wont start ?

On many vehicles, starting around 1998 or so, there was an anti-theft security measure incorporated into vehicles involving the radio. Alternately, the thief may have cut other wires too, so inspect the opening closely and under the hood, especially.

2001 alero, anti theft, starts wont then quits, left key in on position for 10min, now no power, friend told me to disconnect the battery that will drop the ECM? again now it wont even boost. please help

Make sure your battery is fully charged and good. Then leave the key on 'till the security light stops flashing (sometimes more than ten min). If it refuses to start or will not stop flashing, your ignition tumbler chip may have failed (requires tumbler replacement and re-set security again) Can't guarantee it will fix your problem, cause I can't see what else is going on from here...but that's where I'd go first!

Our oldsmobile alero wont start seems like not getting fuel

If the security light is flashing when the key is on then it is the passport 2 anti-theft system. You need to turn the key to the on position (one away from cranking it over) and leave it until the light goes out. Then turn the key off, remove it, then try to restart it.

Electrical issues

Ignition switches on Aleros are notorious for going bad and causing the exact problem you describe. The next time it happens, try turning the ignition key back and forth slightly. If everything starts working again, then have the ignition switch replaced.
