I was driving and not sure what happened but my jeeps transmission statys engauged in forward gear and wont some out i have no reverse or neutral at all. even in park it is still pulling forward.
Sounds like the lockup torque converter has failed. Repair requires trans removal and possible rebuild if converter has contaminated unit. Have a trans shop verify!!

Hi there: By your description solution #1 the transmission pressure switch is bad or not pluged in; did you have the computer scanned for the transmission code?
This is the first step, scanned the TCM (Transmission Control Module) to know fault codes stored there, with this clue could thnik in a second choice.
Since alot of things rely on data from the speed sensor you will "usually" get an ABS alarm, little or no shifting,no indication of speed on the speedometer, and the check engine light. without the abs light and with a speed indicated I would lean toward a transmission problem
I would check the transmission fluid level and color, should be a nice clear red color. You may need to have the filter replaced. Possibly some internal transmission problem also.
Check your rear emergency brakes. A brake shoe pin could have broke and the shoe locks up in 1 direction. but not the other. The other problem you mentioned could happen, but if it is in reverse the trans shifted.
HI, It may seem obvious, but sometimes overlooked.... have you checked the oil level, as low oil can cause some strange things to happen! My 96 4 liter would be reluctant to move sometimes, but after I topped it up, it has been fine.
when i pull shifter in reverse it shows on the console im in neutral
