2004 dodge neon speedometer stopped working

My neon's battery went dead, we jumped it and replaced the battery. both the tachometer and the speedometer stopped working the needles were stuck under the pin. Then out of no where the tachometer started working again but no such luck with the speedometer!!! Any suggestions.

Try giving it a good rap on dash above speedo, see what happens, and get back to me, it may have same problem as my old 95' neon did.

2004 dodge neon will not turn over

have you replaced the battery? the car draws it's electricity from the battery, then the alternator replaces the charge to the battery. if the battery is shot and will no longer hold a charge the car will not stay running once you remove the charge as in removing the jumper cables

Odometer and Techometer do not work after battery was jumped.

On our 2007 Subaru Forester, I followed the above tips but with one small difference. Instead of disconnecting the battery and waiting hours for the ECM to reset, I found on another page that the ECM can be instantly reset by disconnecting the negative battery cable and pressing the brake pedal for a couple of seconds. Worked immediately!
