2004 Chevy Silverado Transmission Light

We recently bought a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71, and the transmission light just came on. Since we bought it used we have no user's manual and first, we wanted to verify (by picture maybe) that this rerally was the transmission light, and secondly, what the manual says some potential reasons for this light coming on are (too much fluid, transmission failing, etc).

engine not turning over which doesn't allow flywheel to turn. Starter is working properly. this is a 1995 chevy silverado 1500, 5 speed manual transmission.

Please check our motor oil. The symbol that looks like a transmission is actually suppose to be a little motor.

Have you checked the fluid level? Plus the color of the fluid. It could just need a transmission fluid & filter change.

2004 Chev Silverado Z71 1500 4wd reverse doesnt work and i have to let off gas to shift to 2nd gear truck still runs great except for reverse thanks in advance from beatrice

That was a good suggestion by Molson. Also, if you have been doing a lot of heavy hauling, have them check the strainer, which could be a problem as well.
