Sounds like a wire being shorted out in the shift console. I can't remember how to take out the console, but it's usually as simple as a few screws in strategic places (including under or behind ashtrays, cup holders, and storage areas).
A Chilton or equivalent shop manual should tell you. In general, consider that these items are installed in a flash at the factory by non-skilled workers, so it probably goes in real simply and quickly. Look for little catches, tabs, slots, etc., that line it up, and snap it in.
mcdevito75 Here, Windsheid Change, a major job, first you:ll need the tools to remove and replace the molding around the windsheild, then you"ll need suction cups or a helper to align the new windsheil, then you"ll need the commercial adhesive to seal the windsheild, Best Bet let your local Glass repair shop do the job.
u do the plug wires one at a time, never take them all off at once.make sure they are routed exactly like the old wires and that all the plug wire looms are good, always replace any broken loom holders..
Despite the other persons advice. on this part you cannot simply yank it out. You must remove the center console (where the stereo is). This is done by removing screws from behind the thin piece of plastic that has your temp controls etc. there may be other screws, but they are easy to find. pull the whole unit forward and then you will have access to the back of the cup holder. there are two "clips" that you can get to. depress them both and the old cup holder will come out. installing the new one may invovled a good shove from the front to engage the new clips. good luck!
HI If it is like my 92 toyota, Pull it all the way open and from underneath push up gently on each plastic clip where the cupholder meets the dash they are on the bottom furthest outside edges
