It could be the key if the vehicle has EWS3, try your spare key.If the battery is full and you torn the key.do you get power on the thin wire to the starter?
rarely fail, but do.if the battery load tested out to be good . you get 12 volts to the starter signal wire when you turn the key to start. then the starter is bad or the engine or something driven by the belt is locked up.
Then, yes, I would say a remote starter key with a questionable battery could cause the battery to drain. Could be that all the necessary components are not being de-energized.
I would add that it's a long shot, but it's worth a try.
Yes, you may have put the wires on the starter wrong. There is a positive post and an ignition post. If they touch or one is touching ground then the starter will engage.
When you say you have power, do you mean the dash lights come on? The power requirements of the starter motor are a lot higher than that of the dash lights or even the headlights and accessories.
Turn the headlights on and try to start the engine, if the headlights go really dim or right out then your battery doesn't have the capacity that the starter needs to turn the engine over and you need to replace it.
I had the same problem, after having the car towed to four Seasons, it was discovered that the electrical portion of the ignition switch was defective. Works like a charm. Part number 61 32 8 356 026 Hope this will help.
The starter solenoid is located on the starter. It looks like a miniature version of the starter which is attached to the starter. The starter relay, however, is located in your engine compartment on the passenger's side under the black box which also houses your cars main computer. This black box is located towards the back of the engine compartment (close to the windshield) on the passenger's side. There are 4 philips head screws which hold it in place.
