Mrs Amanda when you said on pushing the gas pedal is shaking do you mean the whilst accelerating with engine running ( reving) you do receive a shake? or when pushing the pedal you do feel on the pedal with engine off a shake? If it is the first check for any spark plug or spark plug HT Lead not working and cause the engine to shake. If is the second cause then check for your pedal connection cable etc.
A bad rotor would only cause a shake when you are using the brakes. A bad tire could shake at 55mph and above. I would get a second opinion to make sure. The shop could rotate the tires and see if the vibration moves to a different area of the car.
The shaking is probably caused by two seperate things. First shaking at high speeds is usually tire balance. Second the shaking when braking is usually the front pads are worn and the rotors need refinishing. If you have these two things checked and corrected your problem will go away.
