After the Nissan Dealership replaced the OEM distributor on my 2000 Nissan Xterra, the hazard lights started flashing for no reason hours (5-7 hours) after I activated the OEM alarm. thinking that the OEM alarm was failing I had an aftermarket alarm installed. Then for no reason at all (with the motion sensors turned off) the aftermarket alarm started going like the OEM alarm Only this time it was the lights and the flashers, the Xterra was not used for one whole week, when tried to start the Xterra the battery was dead. So I purchased a battery charger and took the Xterra to an Auto Electrician, he told me something connected to the 40 amp FL ignition switch fuse was draining the battery and possibly was connected to the OEM alarm. Can someone help me acquire the schematics for a 2000 Nissan Xterra 3.0 V6? Sincerely; Mr. Leon Armstrong

it might be in your ignition still try turning it from the first click acc to stat and dont stop on the on position thats how mine is

I had a problem on my Nissan Xterra 2000. Symptons sound similar. In my case, it ran fine for a while and then suddenly the engine starts to stumble and lose output. At one point it did not even have enough HP to move. Irregular idling too. Thought it was water in my fuel. Bought water remover from the store and added to gas tank. Problem did not go away. Instead, "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Had to have it towed to the dealer as there was no way the engine could keep up with traffic. Dealer replaced the "Crank Position Sensor" today. Parts $33.00, Labor: $300 (about 3 hrs worth of work). Seems to work fine now but I will wait and see. Dealer also stated that Distributor bearing appears to be noisy and will need to be replaced sooner or later. I will wait for it to go before I fix that.

Found it!! - It is indeed under the dash, directly above the clutch pedal arm and attached to the brake support bracket. The original one was black and NOT round. It's about 1.5 inches long and 1 inch square. The three wires drop down out of the bottom and there is a connector release you have to push to release the wires. The flasher relay itself can slide off the mounting point, with a little extra pressure, pushing towards the left side (outward) of the truck. (left hand drive models).

Connect battery>>>>try unlocking the vehicle from the inside (door closed), using the power un/lock button. Make sure the key is set to the "on" position. Most of the time this works. If this doesnt work, try using the key to lock and unlock the door through the key hole. Hopefully this helps!!
