Hello. Thnaks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

The A/C compressor will not engage (get power) if there is not sufficient freon in the system. There is a pressure switch that opens, and eliminates power to the compressor (pump) if there is not enough freon (which creates pressure), to close the switch and allow the current to flow to the compressor. Check for leaks at the condenser (in front of the radiator).
That is the most common place for leakage to occur.

The graciousness of a FIxYa rating for my assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thnanks in advance.

Air con will not work. Honda civic 2010

if air con is not working it could be the clutch in the ac pump, if you dont use the air con much or use it alot you can either have a seized clutch or a work clutch, without the clutch engaging the pump will not work and not flow around the system, when ac is engaged the idle on the engine will drop slightly.

Skoda air con. my car is a skoda fabia 1.9d ,56 plate (tdi) the air con light comes on on the switch but the compressor isnt starting up . iv had the gas checked and its ok ,can anyone please tell me what...

There could be few problems, if the gas is too low or too high the compressor will not work, maybe the compressor clutch is not engaging. why don't you power the compressor from the relay and see if the compressor works or not.

WHY DOES MY RADIATOR FAN COMES ON ONLY WHEN MY AC IS ON ON MY 88 TOYOTA COROLLA

Hi,
it is generally because the air con heat exchanger has to be cooled in order for your air con to work correctly and cool the interior of your car.

The air conditioning utilises a gas by the name of freon. This gas is pumped around the air con system by a compressor. The gas, going through the aircon cooler or heat exchanger, starts to cool down. Depending on the system layout, the gas is forced through a very small aperture situated after the cooler. It reverts to a liquid, passes through the matrix in the car, a fan blows the interior air of the car through the matrix. The fluid picks up the heat, and cooler air exits the matrix and, (hopefully) cools the interior of the car. This endless cycle is repeated as long as the air con is powered on.

Hope this brief description will suffice.

Squealing,I have new belts and alternator.

Squealing is associated with belt slippage. 1) ensure that the belt is tight - at the longest distance between two pulleys it should be possible to twist the belt by about 90 degrees only. 2) with the engine running check funder the hood or the free running of the pulleys. a) Ask a colleague to engage the power steering from lock to lock and see if the power steering pump pulley does not cause slippage. b) set the air con to low and watch what happens when the compressor pump solenoid engages. If the belt begins to slip on the air con compressor pulley it is likely that the compressor is beginning to fail by seizing up. In that event preserve the belt simply switch the air con off and pray for cooler weather until the compressor can be overhauled.

Air con pump not engauging

Hi:

You should verify that your AC system still has a full charge of refridgerant, and if it does,
The problem is most likely the AC clutch assembly on the front of the compressor.

Since the dash light works, and the fan turns on, there is power to the system, but the compressor won't turn on if the pressure switch says the charge is low, and if you turn the switch, and someone can hear a click of the compressor clutch solenoid, but no air, the clutch assembly is probably the culprit

Air condition pump does not work ,Clutch does not engage on pump.Is there a fuse for this

THERE IS A FUSE,HOWEVER MORE COMMONLY YOUR SYSTEM IS LOW ON R12 AND CUTOFF SWITCH IS ACTIVATED. TRY JUMPING THE CONNECTOR OUT OF THE ACCUMLATOR,THERE SHOULD BE A SWITCH ON IT,PULL CONNECTOR AND WITH VEHICLE RUNNING GET A PIECE OF WIRE AND INSTALL THEM IN BOTH FEMALE TERMINALS. IF A/C CLUTCH ACTIVATES SYSTEM IS LOW OR BAD SWITCH OR BAD FIELD COIL OR CIRCUIT DAMAGED
