Honda accord speedometer drop to zero

My 1994 Honda accord automatic transmission car's speedometer drop to zero and went back up to normal driving speed while driving. It happened again and again. After driving 5 or 6 miles, D2 transmission position on dash board panel started flashing. When I shift to D1 or Neutral or Reverse, D1 or Neutral or Reverse illuminated on panel, but D2 was still flashing. Help.

You may have a problem with your IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) which often can be exchanged for a serviced and warrantied replacement unit.

First thing I would try...disconnect the battery for 10 minutes which will allow the on board computers to re-start.

If this doesn't help... I would retrieve any stored codes the on-board computer has logged which may provide a starting point to diagnose your trouble.

SOURCE: car will not shift into gear

Sounds like a linkage/cable to me. Disconnect the linkage at the transmission and move the shift actuator by hand to see if there is the same things happening. Don't try to do this with the engine running unless someone is holding the brake inside the car.

SOURCE: 92 Accord Automatic shifting

Has anyone change the transmission fluid and used anything other than Honda ATF-Z1. If so, have the fluid/filter changed in this car and use only Honda Fluid. This is the only fluid that you can use in a Honda. Even if you have used the correct fluid an fluid/filter change may help. If that is not the case then I suggest you seek out a trusted professional.

D4 LIGHT WAS FLASHING...SO I TOOK MY 93 HONDA ACCORD TO THE DEALER. THEY PERFORMED A MULTI-POINT INSPECTION AND FINALLY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT, DID A COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE AND...

When our speedometer and odometer went out it in our 94 honda accord it was due to our vehicle speed sensor being bad... once we replaced it with a new one, everything worked fine. I'm not sure about the rpm indicator though because that wasn't affected in ours... I hope this helps

My 1991 Honda accord speedometer just decided to quit. Twice it then started working and then just dropped to zero. Any ideas?

Speedometer cable needs replaced. It is very easy to do if you have a little common sense and a few common tools.
The cable runs from the speedometer to the transmission, Just purchase a new speedo cable and remove the instrument cluster, Look at the backside of the cluster to find the cable to the speedometer, Remove it as you follow the cable to trans replace the same way it was removed and reinstall cluster.

1994 Honda Accord automatic; Speedometer/Odometer intermittent

Sounds like the Vehicle Speed Sensor. It is strange that you're not getting a Check Engine Light or a Flashing light on your gauges where the gear selection indicator bulbs are. For the heck of it, check the plug and wires leading to the Speed Sensor. It is on the back of your transmission kind of near/above the firewall motor mount if you need to replace it. Good luck!

1991 Honda Accord. Intermitent speedometer

It is certainly your VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). It's cheap on eBay. Easy to do yourself too.

96 Ford Taurus Speedometer Drops to Zero

have the fault codes read
the speedo gets its signal from the VSS ( vehicle speed sensor) and that sensor also reports to the transmission control module
So check for a problem in that area

I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX sedan and the speedometer just stopped working. My mechanic just put in a transmission that he bought from a junk yard. How do i fix this problem?

I have a 99 accord and my speedometer and odometer did not work. The problem was the VSS vehicle speed sensor. The VSS is located on the transmission. Once I replaced it everything worked fine.

1995 Honda Accord LX -- odometer failure

Has the speedometer failed to?? if so, you are probably in need of the cable that runs from your transmission to the back of the speedometer. This item is called the speedometer cable. If just the odometer itself failed then you have to pull the cluster and have it serviced typically i take mine to the dealer if that happens. (just the cluster, not the whole car.) hope this helps.

95 honda accord v6 tach erratic and sometimes zero accompanied with minor power flucuations.

Hi ....
On your HOnda accord V6.
The rpm is generated from the Distributor.
The more possible problem for erratic RPM is the cam sensor inside of the Distributor. But I guess you can't buy just the sensor.
And can afect the engine performance.

OK. I hope this information work for you.
I work on cars everyday. Thank you for use fixya.
