Jan 11, 2011 - hi about 2 days ago i realized my brake lights were not working but my turn signal lights were working and parking lights as well but no brake ...
Sep 23, 2009 - 97 GMC Jimmy 4x4 blinkers work, reverse lights work, above window ... I just lost hazard lights and rear brake lights, they were working 2 days ... If it is a frayed wire or solder point, then you can repair it, but not any worn contacts. ... Does anyone have any suggestions on 1997 Honda Accord tail & brake lig.
Brake lights run through the hazzard switch. There are known problems with this, and the multifunction switch. You may need to buy a new hazzard switch and OR the multifunction switch. Before you do that, check the pigtail that goes into the brake switch up by the fender, make sure it's not shorting out up there. Happened to me!
You may have a faulty brake light switch this will cause a intermittent problem with the brake lights only and will not effect the turn signals or running lights. It under the dash attached to the upper part of the brake pedal arm.
make sure that you have the correct bulbs installed and cleanup all the sockets with some WD-40. do your hazard lights work correctly? if not then check the fuse for the hazard/stop light. if its not the fuse then it probably means its a bad turn/hazard switch assembly.
Check the brake light switch should be a orange wire with 12v then a white wire with 12v when the pedal is pressed. If htat cks good then ck the hazard switch by moving it up and down and wiggeling the knob with the brake pedal pressed if they start working then your multifunction switch is bad and needs to be replaced.
there is most likely a short in the wires have you put a tow package on it if so did you splice in to the lines check all wires and see if they are burnt any were most likely short
I had the same problem with my 2001. I found it was the multi function switch. Better known as your turn signal switch. I found that the hazard switch portion of it had shorted. replacement is fairly easy, aftermarket part is available, much cheaper than GM.
