I'm going to post this in the clarification section. I don't have a wiring diagram for a 96 Grand Cherokee headlight circuit. The 95 models used a circuit breaker built-into the headlight switch. The 97 models used a fuse in the fuse box. If your model uses the headlight circuit breaker, a short in one of the headlights or the wiring harness would trip the circuit breaker in the switch. You could unplug one headlight at a time to see if it continues to go on and off.
Sounds like a relay may need to be replaced. Check all of your fuses. Check the relays. I believe the Jeep has a relay for the headlights I could be mistaken. It would be my guess. But also, how long since you replaced the bulbs. A friend of mine had hers flicker when it was a "friendly reminder" to replace. But when you change something, it's always smart to replace the fuse that goes with it.
Hello! Low beam lights are powered by fuse #14 (10A), And fuse #15 (10A)...If fuse #14 is good check for +12 volts at the fuse...If battery is not present the low beam relay is defective...
If your headlight switch is the type you pull out, left of the sterr column on dash, switches tend to go bad, I replaced mine and only had 50,000 miles. try checking headlight relay in engine fuse box first.
.
u should start by checking the bulbs, sometimes it is hard to tell your low beam bulbs are bad until they are both out, if they are both good try wiggling the headlight dimmer switch between high and low beam functions to see if the switch is just worn out. if neither of these presents the problem then u may have an electrical issue that should be diagnosed by a technician
try taking your tilt steering(steeringwheel) and check which setting its on if the tilt steering is all the way down click it up to the next setting and then try your low beams if that still doesn't work try it one more click up you might have a short or pinched wire in your wheel colum
had the same problem on my 92....check under the hood on the drivers side, towards the front, there is a "junction box" with all of the lighting wires connecting from the switches to the lights. My wires were all corroded inside,so I cleaned the ends and bought a new box from the local electronic supply store. The problem has not come back.
Check the fuse. There is a fuse block under the hood as well as on on the passenger side forward of the door jam, close to the loorboards. If thats not the problem try pulling the switch and make sure that it is not warn out. The switches inside are not what you may think and if you remove it you will see how easy it could fail. Try replacing the switch.
how about relays and or bulbs themselves... oh yeah and sockets...
